Introduction

This is the second part of the write up on lifestyle choices. In the first part I talked about one of the which was bank, specifically Ecobank.

In this second part I'm going to discuss about another lifestyle choice which I use often. Many of you will agree with me that in today's world, you can't do without this choice. It is a common stay in our lives and we continually make use of it everyday.

This next choice is in the telecommunication aspect, but within it, there is a network which provides the telecommunication services that I use regularly. The telecommunication service is 9mobile (formerly Etisalat).

In the next few sentences, I'm going to be talking about 9mobile. I hope you enjoy your reading and learn a thing or two.

Second Service: Telcoms Network - 9mobile

9mobile is a telecom company that has networks in Nigeria which helps to provide mobile services in a wireless way. Currently it is the fourth largest mobile operator in Nigeria.

It's services includes voice calls, voicemails, text messages, and data subscription. It depends on it's 2G, 3G/HSPA+, and 4G LTE networks to provide it's services.

It started in 2007 when Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services (EMTS) got the Unified Access License approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). With this license, they were granted the rights to fixed telephony (wired or wireless), digital mobile services, international gateway services, and regional/national long distance services.

It was all a partnership as EMTS, Etisalat Group, and the Mubadala Development Company (which is an investment company owned by the Abu Dhabi government) came together in a strategic partnership to provide mobile services in Nigeria.

In 2008, EMTS under the alias Etisalat Nigeria started operations in Nigeria commercially. By 2010, it had purchased the Alheri Engineering's 3G license, then went on to launch it's broadband mobile internet service, EasyBlaze, in 2011.

It's next aim was to grow it's network base, so in 2015 it took a loan to finance the rehabilitation of it's network and expand it's network in Nigeria. When completed, it increased it's customer base to the tune of 23 million.

In 2017, the consortium of 13 local and foreign banks behind the loan took over the company as it failed to meet it's debt servicing schedule in which there was an agreement. Then the Etisalat Group pulled out of the company and demanded that the company should not use it branding after 3 weeks.

In the start of a new branding campaign and the name was changed from Etisalat to 9mobile

When did you start using this service?

sap204.png

It was in 2015 I started using the service. Before then, I was using another telcom network. I was very comfortable with that network that in my mind I felt it was the best.

What changed my mind was when I when travelled to another state and in the hopes of using the network to browse, I wasn't getting the kind of quality service that I so badly desired. This situation went on for day, and I was beginning to get increasingly frustrated.

So one time an ad about 9mobile (Etisalat then) was on show. I watched it an decided to give them a try. I tried it and started getting the kind of response I desired, I became very happy. Since then I have continued to use the network. I have also relegated the previous network to the bottom in my list of networks.

What is special about them?

sap204.png

There are things I like about them. Ever since I started using their network I began to see their qualities.

First they provide very fast internet service. When I started using their network, it was because of slow internet services that I experienced from the network I was using previously that made me consider them.

I learnt that they achieve this by continually upgrading their network connectivity within the country. Currently, they offer the fastest internet services in Nigeria.

Like I said they keep on expanding their network reach around Nigeria. They expanded the use of 4G network within Nigeria especially on top cities like Abuja, Calabar, Sokoto, Ota, Owerri, etc.

Their data subscription plan is reasonable and sometimes seen to be the cheapest. They have a data package called Moreblaze where a variety of data subscription are given at very affordable rates. This is the most used among it's customers.

I'm mostly satisfied whenever I use their services and that's because the user experience and value I get when using their service is top notch. They also provide value-added services like digital media services, hosting services, unified communications, enterprise solutions, and much more.

What area should they improve?

sap204.png

The area I think they should improve is network coverage. Even though they have masts and station poles in most cities, connectivity is still difficult to access in some areas. For instance, when I travel to another region in Cross River, I realized the network was very poor there.

Anytime I want to do something with the phone the message I get to see is "sim failed". Because of this, I was left in shambles as my day was wasted, I couldn't do anything as I expected they network to return to normalcy but unfortunately it didn't happen like that.

Conclusion

9mobile is a network that I really like. Since the time of Etisalat they have been providing high quality service.

Although they had some issues internally which made the original founder leave and a new management run the helm of affairs. Their services are still the best in Nigeria

Your post is properly detailed as usual.I am not a subscriber of 9mobile but I am sure I have learnt a lot about this telecom network through your posts.

I am particularly in love with the fact that they offer fast internet network and pocket-friendly data price. But why are you writing it individually,I thought the contest suggest writing the four services as one.

Oh wow, Etisalat is a great telcoms service provider. They provide great services especially their data plans and connection.

Yes, the contest is about writing four things you like. I decided to separate all of them individually so that I can write detailed information concerning each of the choice chosen.

Imagine if I jam packed everything inside one post 🤔🤔

Thanks you @samuel20 for the review

9mobile frustrated me years past I stopped using it then, but I think there subscription is attractive if they have a great network coverage, maybe I will try them once more.

I love the way you arranged your writing.

Lol @joyful22, I understand how it feels. It's why I chose Etisalat from other networks.

But you can give it a try, you would enjoy it.

@janeo42,that k you joining or taking part in this contest as you have made a nice choice by choosing most of the services.
