In this post, I will be taking to us on how to cultivate cabbage by ourselves, it's not that hard and it's every day's need in our food, it's also a popular vegetable that our body need to be balanced. It's said that, "Health is Wealth". By this inscription, we suppose to be conscious of our intakes so as to remain perfect in health.

Be a Cabbage Farmer, Do It Yourself and Save Some Money

Cabbage is a very important vegetable needed at our meals and it's also very popular. It can be seen and bought from our local and urban markets, fruit sellers shops and supermarkets as many times as possible, it's available.

Cabbage is eatable by all and sundry, it's like food to many people, also many people see it as just vegetable to be added to meals when needed. Cabbage is a vegetable of many colours, cabbage has green colour, purple colour and white colour, all of them are performing the same duties to our bodies. As you can see here.

Cabbage is foreign to us here in Nigeria, according to studies, cabbage originally came from European countries but can be cultivated in our own soil here in Nigeria even in your own garden or gardens, we can try it!!. Cabbage botanically is called Brassica Oleracca.

Who Can Plant Cabbage

Anybody can plant this important vegetable, it's been discovered that our soil texture here in Nigeria more over in the Eastern Nigeria where I am, can accept the planting and harvesting of cabbage or cabbages. Cabbages are not only planted in the Northern Nigeria as we have been assuming many years ago. In farming, there is what is known as urban farming, that's a way of planting with used cement sacks. Just fill in your lommy soil into the already used cement sacks and plant cabbage, add some amount of water and fertilizer at the appropriate time, keep the sacks at your backyard or indoors, after some months, you will harvest your cabbage and save some money and also feed your family and still remain very healthy.

The Uses Of Cabbage

The uses of cabbage can not be over emphasized. There are lots of ways to eat cabbage.
After a thorough washing with clean water. Cabbage can be chopped and eaten raw if you so want it.
Cabbage can be steamed and eaten too.
Cabbage can be sliced, mixed with other vegetables like carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, green pees and salad creams of your choice and be eaten as salad.

Cabbage can be sliced, washed and fried with oil or cheese and be eaten, it's a very good source of vitamin C and vitamin k.

Health Benefits Of Cabbage

Eating cabbage regularly gives you a clear vision making your eyes to see better and faster.
Eating cabbage lowers your cholesterol level.

Cabbage has antioxidant properties that fights, protects and prevents sicknesses to the body.
Cabbage is very good for digestion due to the presence of fiber in it, It's a dietary fiber.

Cabbage of course contains vitamins C and vitamin k which our bodies need for proper balancing any day, any time.

Conclusion

We will be doing ourselves lots of good by trying to cultivate and harvest cabbages from our own backyards no matter how small the space maybe. If you don't have enough space at your backyard, you can apply the urbanization method of planting, which includes using empty cement sacks to plant any seed of your choice including cabbage..
