Gender Discrimination (Sexism).

I will be talking briefly on gender Discrimination on the girl child.||

What Is Gender Discrimination?

According to Cambridge Dictionary Gender Discrimination a situation in which someone is treated less well because of their sex, usually when a woman is treated less well than a man or is unequal, or disadvantageous treatment of an individual or group of individuals based on gender.

How Has The Girl Child Been Discriminated?

The truth is that right from the mothers womb the girl child suffer even till death because of Discrimination.
Let us use China as a case study.
There is a wish which is very common in China, i.e to have a male child instead of a female child because men are considered more important in the social hierarchy, so couples choose to terminate a pregnancy if the child is not a male.
This really has a negative effect,we will discuss that at the end.

Wemen/girls are being discriminated in various ways. A lady who lives in South America said and I quote her: men eat first and women second. Little girls are expected to cook and clean, but little boys are served by their mother and sisters, and they are told that they are ‘king of the house.
Another woman from Asia said: In my language there is a saying that implies that women do not need to be intelligent or to have abilities. Their role is to do all the housework, but they are not allowed to express any opinions to their husband. This is just but the few Discrimination the female gender are facing.

What Will Be The Effect Of Discriminating The Girl Child(Women)?

If the girl child continue to be Discriminated and killed there will be lack of women in the world and particularly in China which I used as a case study, and this could result in women being obligated to marry more than one man and there will be marriage scarcity. Not only that, there will also be depopulation in the world.

I am not denying the fact that women are somehow given opportunity in our society amd in the world at large. For example we have our dear Chimamanda and Ngozi okongi ewula among other who are very prestigious.

All am saying in effect is :

for the girl child to be treated nicely.

For the girl child not to be killed because of her gender.

For the girl child to be given right to education and health not only minding the house works.

For the girl child to be respected because of who she is.

For the girl child to be given access to skills she has the ability to learn.
