"7 Days Writing Challenge" Day 6 : How Traditional Marriage Is Done In My Locality

Greetings to all, today I will write about how traditional Marriage is done in my locality

What is traditional Marriage

It's the marriage that is done between man and woman according to the norms,custom and culture and it's varies depending on the given society also it's a civil marriage that is generally acceptable legally and religiously.

How it's done

When a man and a woman wants to settle down together in marriage, it involves many steps which are :

Step 1 : Consultation

• The woman will take the man to her parents for the man to know them
• The man will go there with assorted wine
• Then he will declare his intention to the woman parents that he wants to marry their daughter,the parents will ask their daughter if she agrees if she does, the man will fix a day he will go and get list of things he will give to the parent and family of the woman.

Step 2 : Collection of list

The man will go and collect the list of things he will give to the bride parents and family

Step 3 : Introduction

Bother the groom's and the bride's family will meet together and know themselves and then the groom's family will give those things in the list to the bride's family.

Step 4 : Traditional weeding day

The bride's family will cook all kinds of traditional food and drinks and keep for the groom's family also to all the visitors.

Band will play music, the husband and the wife will wear the same traditional atire, people will wear uniforms.

When the occasion start both families will introduce the people they came with and ask them to do declaration of intention, and the groom's family master of ceremony (MC) will tell everyone the name of the bride that they want to marry. The bride's family MC will ask them to bring the man that wants to marry their daughter, the band will play music, people from the groom's side will dance and bring the husband. Then the bride's family and friends will also dance and bring the wife.

Step 5 : Handing over of bride

Both families will come out including the chairman of the occasion, the wife with the parents and the husband with parents, then the bride's parents will handover the bride to the groom in the present of the husband parents and everyone that are present in the occasion, they will drink . And the husband will go home with the wife.
