Dear Community Admins - A Suggestion to help improve User Experience on Community posts Page.
Introduction
I want to start by saying a big thank you to all community admins on Steemit - especially communities that are really working hard to make Steemit a better place. Keep up your great efforts. This post is a proposal or suggestion which I believe will help community admins to put their house in order, and help new and old users enjoy visiting their community posts page. So quickly, here is the problem.
The Problem - too many pinned Posts on Community Pages
Having important updates or announcements pinned to the top of a community post page helps visitors to stay informed. But having too many posts pinned becomes not just a challenge to User Experience, but a mess-up of the community posts page. This Steemit Engagement Challenge gave me the opportunity to explore many communities and I noticed this problem is popular.
I saw some community post pages with 15, 20 or more pinned posts. Ironically, some of the pinned posts are too old and no longer relevant. But they are allowed to occupy to spot in the community post page. This is really something that should be quickly addressed. To old users, we may understand that we need to scroll way down to see user posts, but to newbies, it is confusing.
A newbies asked to join a particular niche and I sent him a community post page link, to see sample posts made by other users. After going through, he complained that he could not see different users posts. I had to advice him to keep scrolling way down to get to them. It was not funny to him, the time it took to get down to user posts should not be this long. I beleive this is an issue that admins can address promptly.
The solution - Pin only few and relevant Updates
I suggest that community admins reduce the number of pinned posts on their pages. in fact, only relevant updates and announcements should be allowed to occupy that top spot. So each admin that saw this post can go back and review all pinned posts and answer the following two questions:
- Are the Pinned posts so relevant to occupy that top spot?
- If they are that important, are they too many?
Old announcements and updates should promptly be removed. Even if there are important announcements or posts to be pinned, they should not be too many. Like I said, I have seen communities with 15, 18 and even up to 20 pinned posts. Its really not too good to scroll way down before user posts are seen.
As the admin or Steemalive community, I usually like fewer than 5 posts to be at the top so that a new user can quickly get to members posts and engage with them. Below is a screenshot of SteemAlive posts page:

What if there are many important updates to Pin
In a case where the community have many important posts to pin, I suggest the admin can make 1 post and gather the links in it. For example, if there are contest announcement, user guidelines, plagiarism pledge, membership requirements and other important up date, the admin can make just one post and add all of them, then Pin that post. The post can be called Important Information/Updates for New users
Conclusion
I hope this suggestion would help clean up community pages and improve user experience. Visitors should not scroll for long before they see the unique contents of the community. And there is no need to leave old, outdated updates. These are my suggestions thought. I hope admins see it.

When community pages are not cluttered with unnecessary pinned posts, it becomes easy to navigate, especially for first time visitors. I also got confused initially when I browed some communities.
Thanks. Am sure user admins will work hard to make sure that community posts page is not filled with too many pinned post. it will surely help to improve the overall user experience on Steemit
I have noticed that too, having few pinned post is better so that one can easily access other users post. And read the most important information about the community.
I love this honestly, sometimes I find it difficult to find new Contest or some updates in some Community, sometimes I will see an update to read gaze what, 2 years ago, I don't find it interesting reading it because I i know they must have updated it to match current situation, thank you @focusnow
