LEFT HANDEDNESS AND THE AFRICAN CONCEPT

INTRODUCTION

Most individuals are born left handed while some develop it during their early stage of growth. People who are left handed are encouraged or to use their right hand, mainly because of the prejudice against the awkwardness of left handedness and the prevalence of right handedness.

The African man believes that the use of the left hand is a bad Omen. When you give out things with your left hand it is rejected, when you eat with the left hand it’s a bad behaviour, when you collect things with the left hand it’s stupidly acerbic.

well, it’s high time we learned why most people use the left hand dominantly to the right. We will consider few reasons ,

GENES

Although researcher hasn’t yet understood why 10 percent of the population turn out to be left handed, it is noted that genetic factor can predispose a child to favour either the left or the right hand. The genetic proposal to explain hand preference states that their are two allels or manifestation of a gene associated with handedness. One of the allels Is the D gene ( for dextran meaning) and the C gene ( for chance).
Individuals with the D gene are right handed while 50% of those with the C gene are left handed. While the rest 50% are right handed.
Probably the reason for the dominant right handedness.

though It is believed that individuals comfortably use the both hands has the DC gene, while those who finds it way difficult to use the right hand has the CC gene.

However, more recent research suggests it is more likely that lots of different genes add up to produce a left handed person.

FETAL DEVELOPMENT

Left handedness Is believed by some researchers to be more of an environmental influence which occurs while the child is in-utero.

MODELLING

parents who use their left hand more dominantly even are likely to be influenced by their children.

ADJUSTMENT TO ACCIDENTS OR ILL HEALTH

Individuals affected by accidents or ill health where their right hand is affected tends to adjust into using the left hand more often.

Although researchers are still looking for answers to conclude why individuals are left handed, this is because some people use the left hand perfectly , while others use both hands comfortably in performing different taxes.
It is important that we do not look at left handed individuals as less of a person . whether left handed or not, the important thing is to get the tax done.

Therefore, it is not the left handed person that makes the African man not to make more sales in his business, or brings bad omen.
If you’re a left handed individual , please do not feel shy or intimidated or even unlucky. Make the best out of your left handedness.

EXPERIENCES

I grew up in a society where I was told that my left handedness was a bad omen , I was told that anything I give or keep with it is automatically useless. But now I know left hand has nothing to do with negativity or bad luck, we should stop the stigma and help improve sanity and happiness in individuals, -Nkechi
