Friends and fellow Steemians I want to welcome you this day to my Blog, hope you are enjoying the season and its beautiful weather. This Contest is indeed appropriate at this time of the year because so many people are travelling thereby making this motor parks very busy. Let me share with you here some of my few experiences visiting some Parks in my State. Please read and follow me down to the end of these beautiful outing of mine. Let's go.
ALABA INTERNATIONAL MARKET AND THEIR GARAGES
https://what3words.com/suppose.robe.chimp
From the above pictures I was able to capture different Parks and Garages in Alaba International Market. This is a very popular and busy market with so many different activities going on there. This market is always a very busy place and they have so many garages mostly along the road because there is no space for motorists to park except those big transporters traveling down to other cities and towns outside Lagos State.
In the first picture (pix 1) I went to OKEYSON MOTORS PARK. At the time I visited the Garage, it was almost empty as if nothing is happening here, you see Passengers here in the morning hours when travelers going to the eastern part of Nigeria are taking off. It is a very busy park mostly in the evening for night travelers and in the early morning hours from 5am to 7am after that time all their vehicles will have gone on their different destinations.
In the second picture (Pix 2) You will see Okada riders waiting to take packages and luggage for deliveries. Traders use them for fast despatch of goods to their customers. They are popularly called Despatch Riders and its very common now in Lagos State because it reduces a lot of stress and delays that those owners usually meet due to traffics that is common in Lagos state.
In the third picture (pix ) You see different vehicles - big lorries and small cars packed, waiting to be loaded. Most times those cars are owned by the traders in the market. When you park your vehicle here, you pay the Park operators some amount for the number of hours your car is there and they will be watching it for you. Their fees ranges from N300.00 depending on how long your vehicle is in their care. As for those lorries, they stay there waiting to get goods to other cities and the operators here will do a Waybill for your goods and neatly pack them. Those goods are going outside the city.
In the fourth picture (pix 4), you see Truck pushers carrying people's luggage with their truck to the place the owners will board a vehicle to his destination or if the owners come with their cars, the load carrier will simply take it they and pack it inside the vehicle. This is very common here in Alaba International Market.
Picture five (pix 5) shows another Car Park. Here people park their cars and pay the Park operators to take care of their vehicles, you negotiate the amount to pay depending on how long you are going to leave your car in their garage. They will confidently go inside the market and transact their businesses. Each Zone in Alaba International Market have their Car Park directly opposite the Shopping Lines. That is how they operate here in this market.
In picture 6 (pix 6) you see musicians playing music, to attract customers. They just mounted their Canopy here and are calling names of their different products so passers-by can be wooed and attracted to come into their plaza and buy. These people are advertising hair and body creams. I was almost forced to enter their plaza but time could not permit me. It was very interesting as their musics were heart touching.
The picture 7 (pix 7) is the loading garage of The Chisco Motors. Here travelers going to Onitsha, Owerri, Aba, Umuahia Port Harcourt, Abuja etc., always comes here in the early morning hours to board vehicle going to their destinations. This time of the season, the Chisco Motors are charging very high fees just like their counterparts in other areas of Lagos State. Travelers going to Onitsha now pays as much as N11,000.00 as against N10,000.00 that they have been charging. As the Christmas day approaches, their fees increases day by day. Their vehicles are fully installed with air conditioners for the comfort of the travelers, no wonder people always patronise them.
The last garage I want to talk about here in Alaba International Market is in the picture 8. This is the Arise and Shine loading garage. This Garage is mostly for loading big luggages going to the eastern and northern part of Nigeria. They have many big lorries for different routes. They load during the day time and start their journey mostly in the night. Traders find it an easy way to transport their goods to their destinations.
THE OKOKOMAIKO GARAGE PARK
https://what3words.com/patch.mountain.steep
Here is the popular Okokomaiko Bus Stop with about 2 main Garages at both sides of the road. I was able to capture the activities going on at these garages. Here in my 1st picture (pix 1) you can see the Okada riders at one side and the bus drivers parked at the other end. Because of the ongoing road construction going on here for over 5 years ago, the garage here has been moved from where they used to be to another locations. They just negotiate with the Park co-ordinators and gather themselves together and there becomes a temporary garage for them. You can see hawkers with their fruits and beggers alike all waiting for their own daily bread. Many things happens here in Okokomaiko.
In my second picture (pix 2) and picture 3 is their main parking garage. Drivers stays here and load passengers going to Agbara, Badagry, Ajangbadi, Afromedia, Iyana Isashi, Oko-Afo etc. Their fares ranges from N100.00 to N600.00 depending on where you are going to alight.
On the fourth picture, you see Okada riders packed there, and hawkers too hanging out. Everyone is looking for their daily bread. In this garage you see a popular Okoko market beside the garage and market women, pure water and cold drink hawkers and so many other businesses are going on here.
IYANA ISASHI GARAGE
https://what3words.com/reports.whom.slogged
This is a very popular Bus Stop but unfortunately they have a very small garage that does not accommodate cars except Tricyles (Keke) buses. This made them to have another garage along the road and from there in pictures 1 and 4 you see passengers joining buses along the road side at the garage. There are also other market activities going on here as you see smaller Kiosks under the Umbrellas for shade and cover from the sun with their goods on display. From here the passengers going to Badagry, Seme Boarder, Agbara etc. do board buses to their different destinations. I often come to this bus stop each time am going out for my other activities. You can see in pictures 2 and 3 - people, Okada Riders in their park, truck pushers and passengers alike.
IYANA IBA MARKET GARAGE
https://what3words.com/heave.gazette.inched
The Iyana Iba Garage is a very big garage in Lagos State. It is here that almost all part of Lagos State will have a vehicle going there from Iyana Iba. It is also having a very big market with different vendors. Picture 3 actually shows the food stuff vendors of pepper and other local food stuff on display. Due to the road expansion here in Iyana Iba, the main Garage was affected so they have to move inside now occupying a smaller space. You can take bus to Ikeja here and pay about N450.00 and they go straight without stopping along the road. You can also get a bus to Mile 2, Orile and CMS. As they drop passengers along the road, that is how you will follow them till you get to your last bus stop at CMS Lagos Island with about N400.00 transport fare.
It was quite a tour for me going round these few Garages at their different locations in my State. I want to thank you so much for patiently going through this my lovely experience as I update you in pictures of my city in Lagos State. Thank you.
