Fullofwords STAY HEALTHY-WHY EXERCING IS GOOD FOR THE BODY
INTRODUCTION
This is my second entry to this week's contest organized by Steemalive community
Exercise is a very important aspect of human living. Through this post you can learn what exercise means, it's importance and how it can help you to live better.
EXERCISE
Exercise is said to be any planned physical activity, structured for the purpose of conditioning the body in order to improve health and fitness. It involves engaging in physical activities that increases the heart rate beyond resting which is an important part of preserving physical and mental health. Although beneficial, most people pay little or no attention to exercise probably because they don't know how important that 10 minutes jogging is to their bodies.
Does the word "exercise" tire you out when you hear it?
Below are solid payoffs from getting a good exercise routine.
Weight Control
Exercising regularly prevents you from gaining excess weight which is unhealthy for you. Engaging in physical activities helps to burn calories which is responsible for weight gain. The more you exercise, the more calories you burn. Signing up with a Gym near you is great but if you can find enough time to do so,engaging in simpler physical activities like taking walks, using the stairs instead of elevators, jogging can do the needful. Exercise doesn't necessarily require rigorous activities, try to stay active during the day and keep your body fit.
Exercise improves mood
Are you emotionally down? Or you're really stressed out after the day's activities? A physical activity like brisk walking can really help to calm you down. While exercising, the brain releases chemicals that leaves you happier, more relaxed and less anxious.
Exercise boosts your energy
Regular physical activities can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise delivers oxygen to your tissues and helps the cardiovascular system to stay in a good shape. When the heart and lungs are working efficiently, you will have more energy to tackle your daily chores.
Improves brain function
Regular exercise routine increases blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain. It also encourages the release of hormones that are responsible for the production of cells in the hippocampus-the part of the brain responsible for memory and learning. This,in turn, boosts concentration and cognitive ability.
Exercise boosts the immune system
Exercise improves the body's ability to pump the oxygen and nutrients around the body that are required to produce cells which help to fight against bacteria and viruses. Staying active helps to reduce the likelihood of developing some degenerative bone diseases like osteoporosis.
Exercise helps you sleep better
Exercising makes you more tired and more readily to sleep more. Getting enough sleep will help you live better.
TYPES OF EXERCISE
Aerobic exercise (endurance activities)
This type of exercise aims to improve the body's use of oxygen. Aerobic exercises increases breathing and heart rate. Endurance exercises are particularly beneficial to the heart, lungs and the circulatory system. Aerobic activities includes brisk walking, biking, climbing of stairs, swimming etc
Anaerobic exercise (strength exercise)
This exercise is done without using oxygen. It is mainly for the build up of power, strength and muscle mass and it helps to provide needed energy a for day to day activities. Anaerobic exercises includes lifting weights, push ups,arm curls etc
Balance exercises
Balance exercises are especially helpful to older adults. It can help to to gain enough balance in order to prevent constant falls which is a major problem among the aged. Balance exercises can include standing on one foot, heel to toe walk etc.
Flexibility exercises
The muscles are repeatedly shortened when they are in constant use especially while exercising. Flexibility exercises help to stretch out those shortened muscles in order for you to not to wear them out. They include back stretches, ankle stretches, yoga.
MY PERSONAL EXERCISE ROUTINE
Walking has always been my favorite exercise routine. Back in my secondary school days,I usually walk to school everyday. My school was a 30 minute walk from home if you decide to talk your time but you can still beat it in 20 minutes if you walk fast enough. Now I do other forms of exercises like skipping, jogging or biking when I get the chance to bike around the neighborhood with friends.
I made it a goal to devote at least 20 minutes everyday to exercise and keep my body fit.
Here are some tips I can share from exercise routine.
Get a partner
You are more likely to exercise if you do it with someone. Exercising alone can be tiring or even boring. A partner will serve as both an inspiration and motivation for you to keep going.Make sure your body is not heavy
Exercising immediately after eating can make your body too heavy for you to do some activities like skipping a rope. It is better you exercise before you eat or after your food must have digested a bit.Have a timer
You can set how many minutes you'd like to exercise for the day and don't stop untill it's up to that timeMake it a habit
Make it a habit to exercise everyday,no amount of time is too small as long as you did something. Doing so, it'll become part of you and you're more likely to get results
CONCLUSION
Make it a goal to improve your exercise routine having seen the benefits of exercising. Physical fitness is the way to healthy living.
Stay healthy you all.
