Growth and development occurs as a result of the interaction between heredity, environment, maturation and learning.
In this write up, emphasis will be laid mainly on heredity and environment which are the main growth determining factors among the above mentioned.

Heredity can be seen as the transmission of potentialities for physical, mental and other characteristics from parents to their offspring.
It's the sum total of an individual's entire make up contained in the genes
Heredity involves the transmission of phylogenetic Characteristics from one generation to the other through the process of reproduction.
During this transmission, the Characteristics may either come from the child's immediate parents or from the child's ancestral parents.
After copulation, the sperm of the male, combines with the ovum of the female to form a zygote. Both the sperm and ovum have genes they contribute to the child before birth.
A normal individual has a total number of 46 chromosomes, 23 each from both parents. This chromosomes contains factors called genes and this genes contains the transfered attribute from both parents.
Female sex chromosomes are known as X chromosomes and every normal female child has two X chromosomes, anything other than this is termed chromosomal abnormality. The male child have X and the Y chromosomes and this Y chromosomes is responsible for the birth of male children, so any man that can't give birth to male children should known that problem is from him and not his wife.
Environment is seen as all tye non genetic factors and combinations that also influences the life and development of a human organism immediately after birth till death. Environment can either be of positive or negative effect to the life of a child examples of environmental factors that can either affect a child positively or negatively include schools, hospitals, church, playground, climate geographical location or anything that can trigger the working if the human sense other than inborn factors.
When talking about environment, it can either be pre-natal or post-natal.
PRENATAL ENVIRONMENT

When talking about pre-natal environment, we're talking about all the things that happens to a child in the uterine world. This environment lasts from conception to birth which bus approximately 9 months
Factors that can affect a child in this environment include the age of the mother( A lady in her early 30s will give birth to well formed babies where as a lady in her late 30s may give birth to a baby with down's syndrome effect), drug, diseases, radioactive rays, nutrition etc.
A pregnant lady should stay away from the above mentioned factors is she wants to give birth to healthy baby
POST-NATAL ENVIRONMENT

This environment encompasses every factor that can affect a child positively or negatively outside the mother's womb and this factors include socioeconomic status of the parents, which can influence a child's nutrition, academic exposure, socialization, medical attention etc.
In short, a parents socioeconomic status to a large extent determines the child's future.
We also have the material and cultural environment.
The material environment reveals the degree of affluence or poverty a child is exposed to during his early life.
The cultural environment talks on the requirements a culture imposes on a growing child which to a large extent shapes the life of a child.
For any parent to be termed either good or bad in raising children that parent needs an indepth knowledge on the influence of heredity and environment in the life of a child.
One importance of this knowledge is to let parents know that there are some trait a child will exhibit that cannot be changed.
When a parent have idea on the effect of heredity and environment, they'll try as much as they can to provide conducive environment for their children.
In conclusion, married parents, intending couples, single parents, teachers that'll will see this blog should try as much to look deeper into it and obtain the necessary knowledge needed for the healthy growth of our coming generation.
Growth is very necessary but if we don't have the right environment, training and background, we may never grow even though it is important and necessary that human grow. It is in our nature to accommodate growth as much as possible but not having the right people around us, the right environment and background deprives us from certain growth.
Indeed it is the responsibility of our parents to give us a conducive environment or atmosphere for us to grow in the right way because our environment, background and the people we associate with determines our level of knowledge but it is also left for each and every one of us to accept to want to get knowledge thag will help in our growth.
But like they usually say, knowledge is wealth, if we know about this few tips, it would help not just our parents but our generation to come on how to groom their children properly and not make them a nuisance to the society.
