MINDSET IS JUST 25%

INTRODUCTION

We often hear people say "he's got a great mindset or mindset is the difference between a mediocre performance and an elite performance".

What is mindset then, to keep it very short, it's simply our mental attitude towards life.
Our lives are greatly affected by the way we think things are, not the way things really are.

As humans, we have the ability to see things the way they are and also see things better than they are.
Attitude is a mixture of of our feelings and our thoughts.

Working on our mindset is really important but that's just 25% of the ingredient needed to lead an excellent life.

For you to become an elite performer in your craft, it's very important you work on the four factors I'll be writing about.

  1. Mind-Set
  2. Heart-Set
  3. Health-Set
  4. Soul-Set

MIND-SET

What is your attitude towards life? When you face defeat, how do you respond? Do you keep whining or do you take action immediately.

Mindset in short is our mental programming, our attitudes towards life.
What things mean to us, our interpretation of circumstances.

For example it's raining, Salesperson A might say "it's raining, can't go out today to makes sales today because who would want to buy in the rain"
Salesperson B might say "it's raining, what a wonderful time to go out and make sales, because other salespeople will probably stay indoors"

Same circumstance, different mindsets.
In other words, different attitudes towards the same circumstance.

Being mindful and giving meanings to circumstances be it good or bad, is a good way to start improving and fortifying your mindset.
Reading good books, listen to encouraging messages it very important, becoming a selective listener, standing guard to the gate of your mind.

HEART-SET

It doesn't matter how much intelligence you have or how fortified your mindset is, without developing your heartset, it will become difficult to maintain your level of success (that's if you've attain success in the first place)

Heartset in short is our emotional intelligence
How we manage our emotions in relation to people and our environment is pivotal to becoming an elite performer.

Being aware and observant of our emotions is important, knowing what the next person is feeling and how to relate with them is a skill one must learn in other to get the most from people.

When you're leading an organisation, a group or whatever endeavour that involves many, it is important to know that it's not just the skill on the jobs that's needed but the skill of emotional intelligence, because now you're managing people with different temperaments in other to achieve a common goal.

One of the best book recommended to develop your heartset is emotional intelligence by Daniel Goleman.

HEALTH-SET

If you want to change the world, if you want to make an impact, don't die.
We've come across the analogy of humans in their youthful age trade their health for wealth, but when they get older, they'll gladly trade all their wealth for a good health.

To make a difference in the world, you need to be healthy physically.
There are people in this world that have desires to make a difference but aren't physically able to follow through with their commitments, not because they don't want to, but because they are physically down.

Are you eating right? Are you working out? Are you having good night rests?

One thing I've learned over ther years as an elite performer, it is very helpful to eat according to function, not according to taste. Basically food is fuel for body.
As you design your diet according to function, you'll ultimately have more energy to go about your activities.

Taking more fruits, eating less of processed foods and more of whole foods is essential to up our energy in the body.
You can't expect to be healthy if you eat junks twice a day and one good meal once a day. You have to be consistent with eating healthier foods.

Are you working out? You don't have to run a marathon to know you've excercised.
Ten push-up can be the difference in energy levels between you and the next person.
Exercises increases your metabolism, which is super helpful.

Are you sleeping well? Do you get 8 hours of good sleep?
I'm emphasising on good sleep because one can have bad sleep.
Do you go to bed very late? This little adjustment of attitude goes a very long way because sleep is how we recharge our batteries as humans.

SOUL-SET

"We're in this world but we're not of this world" one famous writer wrote.

We're spirit beings dwelling in human body.
Soul-Set is all about our spirituality.
It's all about being in synchronicity with your source.
This is not about religion, it's about recognising the ultimate power of infinite intelligence.
Perhaps we can all agree there's a greater power than us in the universe (One Song).
We name it differently but basically it's the same thing.

For me God is supreme above everything, being one with God (whatever you believe in) brings you all round rest regardless of circumstances.
With this rest, hardly can any circumstances throw you off balance in the pursuit of your purpose.

SUMMARY

This is a summary of what's needed to be a top performer in any endeavour you're into.
Each points discussed above is 25% of what's needed to be an elite performer, if you work well in all 4 points, then you're 100% ready to rock your world.
