Transportation has really evolved from what we use to know. Nowadays transportation through science and technology has become a fast and easy process compared to the olden transportation which involved the use of animals to transport people and goods from one place to another. This olden days transportation is now considered a time waster in our modern world. In this post we will examine closely how science and technology has impact transportation and what transportation is today.

Transportation is defined as a process whereby people or goods are moved from one place to another, either by air, water or land.
Transportation exist in three main forms these are land, water and air transportation. These three means of transportation differ from one another. And we will discuss them one after another, starting from Land to air.

Land transportation or Road transportation includes the use of the following:

• Cars
• Bicycles
• Tricycles
• Motorcycles, etc.

These use a medium called road, for this vehicles to move from place to place there need to be a road. Cars can't drive in bushes though there are some cars that meant specially for rough ground which enables them to move freely in bushes.
Road the s constructed for the purpose of transportation, therefore, road is key to land transportation. Another medium is rail and pipeline.
Rail transportation has to do with the use of trains which travel on rail tracks. It a fast means of transporting goods and people from place to place.
Pipeline transportation is used in transporting liquid and fluids such as petroleum to distances where they are needed. A picture of train is displayed below.

Water Transportation involves the use of the following.

• Ship
• Boat
• Canoe
• Yatch
• Speed boat, etc.

Water Transportation is carried out on water, the medium for this transportation is readily available by nature. Water Transportation is used mainly for transportation of bulky goods internationally, internally and within water locked communities. Air transportation is the fastest means of transporting goods and people from place to place. It is the most expensive means of transportation.
Air transportation involves the use of:

• Aeroplane
• Helicopter
• Glider
• Jets, etc.

Comparing the olden transportation system with the modern transportation you will find out the there is a wide gap... In what used to be a month journey in the olden days, today it's just a matter of hours. Kudos to Science and technology, transportation today is more secured than that of the olden days. For example, if a man travels during rainy season he is in a danger of getting wet before getting to his destination. But today the train has a roof and even when you drop, you drop in the station which also has roof. Even if you decide to use a car you will still get to your destination without being wet. Modern day transportation has been enhanced by science and technology in such a way that it cuts off time wasting and also makes us travel safely. Science and technology has made it easier for us by even providing maps displayed on a screen in today's transportation mediums such as cars, plane and ships.
