Ofcourse every year we have goals and resolution and 2020 was no different. Earlier late 2019 i was given admission to study electrical engineering at micheal okpara university of agriculture. The 1st semster started from january 2020 and was supposed to end around june. With the second semster expected to kickstart by july and end around early november, and that november ending the academic section supposed to close and we would enter new level by november.
That was how my year was well planned, this november now i was supposed to be in 200level.

But then by march ending my school was closed down because of the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic before we had the chance to even write our first semster exam.
So because of the virus schools were shutdown nationwide and as i write this am still at home now because of asuu strike which still started around march till now. My year really was affected by the covid-19 pandemic and asuu and FG log ahead was is still on till now. So am still basically at home is almost as if one never entered school in the first place.

Another thing that have also shaped this year is police brutality.

This police brutality is another thing that have shaped this ugly year. In my side it got to a point that dressing well was a crime. Once the special anti robbery squad sees a person especially a young dude dressing well he is atomatically a suspect of online fraud known as "yahoo".
I witnessed it first hand when my very good friend was picked from the street suspected by them to be a fraudster. Without any proof they came down pointed gun at him and took off with him. He was lucky they let him go after acessing his phone and seeing no proof to their claim but some others were not that lucky. This issue of police brutality in my side is was as if they targeted mostly boys. So this event also had an effect on me in the accursed year already.

Another aspect of what really changed my year was the violent protest. It was so severe that we had to leave our homes and run to safety for the sake of our dear life.
In oyigbo, Rivers state the protestants or thugs as the case may be turned violent killing soldiers police officers and burned down at least 2 police station in oyigbo and the customary court in oyigbo.

This event causes the army to take over and there is usually shootout between them. Gunshots becomes normal to us like the the daily routine of life. This made us leave our home and run for our dear lives. Indeed this year is not balanced it affected everybody in one way or another.

Lastly the misfortune of the year causes high cost of living. In my place the prices of goods rise to a point of no return. At a point mtn card of #100 was sold for #180, bread of #100 was sold for #130 just to mention a few. Its was a case of high demand of goods and low supply of them because most of the major roads were closed down and we suffered this and survived and live through it and witness first hand violence as never seen, food shortage. But jehovah saw us through. Indeed if one see through this year he or she has to give gratitude to whom it is due. Our God jehovah.

This is my post on the events that truly scattered my plans for the year. Indeed this year is a tragedy. Dont know if anything can be savaged.

This year has been very disastrous for all of us, I share your plight bro. I too was affected by the Corona virus lockdown, total halt of my academic activities and all, high cost of living and alot more has made this year unbearable.

One thing good about this year is just steemit, steemit has been a very good place to gain decentralisation and great friends. I know you share the same view. In all we thank God for life and our safety.
