Hello great steemians am happy to write about my favorite city which is rives state. But before I'll start I'll like to thanks @brightobias for hosting these wonderful contest. Read through to known about my favorite city. This post is powered up 100%.

I'll start by introducing rivers state to you, rivers state is among the 36 states in Nigeria it geopolitical zone is south south, rives state is considered as the 6th most populous state in Nigeria.
It's capital is known as portharcourt, the capital (portharcourt) is the center of nigeria oil industry. Rivers state shares boundary with the following states, imo state, anambara state, akwa ibom state, bayelsa state, and delta state.
It is known as a state with different ethnic groups which are ikwerre, ijaw, etche, ekpeye etc it has 23 local government, ikwerre, ogba/egbema, emohua, Tai, etc..
Around may 1967 yakubu gowon allow the creation of rivers state, in 1996 sani abacha carved out bayelsa state from rivers state during his military government.
The people of rives doesn't joke with education that why the past governor(Hon rotimi chibuke amechi) built a free primary school in all the 23 LGA for the people of rives. The state has many universities, polytechnic, college of education.

Other higher institutions in the state include
- portharcourt polytechnic
- rivers state college of health science and technology
- Ignatius ajuru University of education
- University of portharcourt
- rivers state university etc.
The rives state university is located in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Nigeria it is manage and controlled by the state, also the first owned university of the state. due to how valued education is in rives state the current governor pulled the university out of ASUU and does not go on strike anymore.
Rivers state is majorly known for its crude oil and natural gas, the state has two major refineries, two major sea ports, two stadiums, airports (located at omegwa) and so many industries across the land.
The state uses its tourist center to create job opportunities for its citizens, and to stimulate economic growth in the state.
Their are so many tourist center in rives state were people can chill and enjoy them self eg is the pleasure park

It is a recreational park in the garden city of Portland, The park is located along aba road the park serve as revenue generator for the state, the park is for both adult and children.
The people of rives state is not good in craft making rather go to neighbouring state like aba who are very good in that to buy from them in a large quantity them resell in our local markets.

The oil mil market is the biggest market in the state that attract merchants within and outside the state, the market usually operate every Wednesday and due to how populated the market it always causes traffic congestion.
- transportation : rivers state mainly use water and land as means of transportation. Commercial vehicles in the state are always with blue and white colour.
Also domestic and international flights are available in portharcourt international Airport Airlines such as Lufthansa, Air France, Med-View and Cronos link the state to destinations including Frankfurt, Paris, Lagos and Malabo

Also their is a sea port in the state and it function very well known as onne seaport it is the busiest and largest sea port in the country. e port area is located in three Local Government Areas of Rivers State, Eleme LGA, Ogu-Bolo LGA and Bonny LGA. The port consists of two major facilities, the Federal Ocean Terminal and the Federal Lighter Terminal.
I have come to the end of the post about my favorite city rivers state I was born I grew up in the state and have visited only 3 states out of the 36 state in Nigeria.
What I don't like in rivers state is the high rate of culitism, kidnapping and killing high level of insecurity. Hope for a better rivers state in this part.
