May I welcome our steemians to yet another exciting edition of steemalive written competition. We have 10 interesting topics to write. One of them is entitled "My Dream for a better World."You will agree with me that while we hope that the world becomes a better place for us all to live in, it continues to sink deeper into uncertainties. I keep wondering why? As I wonder my mind sometimes tells me that the world got something wrong along the line and that is that it has abandoned God's principles for making the world better and chose human wisdom.

Some of the Problems Seen in the World

Some of the principles militating against world happiness are:

1. Rapidly collapsing institution of governance and Government agencies. Governments are getting weaker and weaker and incapable of providing for the people. In my country , most state Government's cannot build durable roads or repair existing ones or even complete the ones previous government started.There are so many abandoned projects. Some projects have nothing to add to the welfare of the people.
   Governments cannot pay workers their salaries and pensioners their pension for many months and this affects productivity and the welfare of the citizens. Where salaries and pensions are not paid the economy will be affected. People's welfare needs cannot be met under a poor economy.
   2.Another problem that has contributed to worsening things in the world is unemployment. Unemployment rate in Nigeria is increasing every day,. Graduates of our universities do not have jobs. This syndrome has created many social vices in the country. People in government provide job for their children and the children of their friends. There is no serious self-employment program created for the army of unemployed youths. The poor economic situation of the country has heightened the unemployment rate in the country. The elderly ones who should be retiring from service have refused to do so. They have continued to elongate their age by falsification and those caught are not arrested, prosecuted and punished. This attitude has worsened the unemployment problem in the country. If youths are unhappy it means that we all are in danger. Unless the situation is reversed we should expect happenings that are worse than the present level of insecurity.
2. Insecurity.
   The problem of insecurity is global. There is war in Ukraine, terrorism, insurgency, armed robbery, kidnapping and abduction everywhere.
   When we talk about insecurity we should not limit it to security of the person alone. We should also talk about food security. Without food security that of the person becomes meaningless. If we talk of life we should also talk of how to secure those areas that would support life.
   In my country .both public and private nstitutions and their agencies have become subject of attacks by terrorist. Insecurity has become so widespread that the existence of the country is being threatened.
   4.Poor Education System
   Public schools are no longer being properly managed. They have lost their attraction. Public schools could go on strike for many months
   nowadays without the government fixing the problem. The people does not seem to border about the impact of poor education of our young ones.
3. The economy of the country is fast nosediving. Essential commodities' prices are going beyond the reach of the poor. The government doesn't seem to know how to solve the problem
   5.Corrupt Leaders.
   There is high level of corruption among the leadership. While the rich continues to be richer by looting the public treasury the led continue to be poorer
   As a result of corruption the economy cannot be fixed, insecurity problem cannot be solved and infrastructure cannot be built.
   6.Poor Infrastructure.
   The worst is that no new infrastructure is being built in the country. No good roads, the electricity is not working and the industries are gradually dying off. The public water system is no more functioning. Public buildings that need renovation cannot be renovated due to neglect.
   7.Broken Marriages.
   The sanctity of marriage has been destroyed. People marry and divorce at will. Children of broken homes have become a menace to the society. These problems exist in different ways in different countries.

This topic has turned us into visioners. So how do we want the world in future and what do we want done to bring it about.
I have just written on few areas that have turned things worse. There are many more.
I envision a world in which the rights of everyone will be respected. In such a world there will be justice and equality.

How Do I Want Things to Change to Make the World Better?

I suggest that individuals and the government have roles to play in this. These are:

• The Individual.

1. As humans and part of humanity an individual must respect other humans, their rights, their culture and religion. Respect for one another in such ways will guarantee peace .
   2.Individuals should be one another's keeper. If we keep our eyes on one another for our safety we will be better secured.
2. Human beings are social animals. We should bring out time for rendering Community services such as keeping the environment clean, helping out local schools through pro bono teaching that is, voluteer services.
3. We can once in a while share what God has blessed us with the less privileged in our community.
4. We should study God's word voraciously and obey his principles of happy living in our societies. We should love our neighbors. If we love one another we shall live in peace and the would be better.
5. Corporations must render cooperate social services voluntarily. This is a way of saying thank to the community that sustains it. It creates social harmony.

• The Government

1. Government should make life more affordable to the people. Cost of living is soaring high everyday and Government must do enough to reduce it.
   2.Government should reduce the charges and levies that people pay on services and regulations that they render.
   3.Government should hold the enablers of corruption accountable. Both the giver of bribe and the taker must be subjected to trial.
2. Government must make sure that corrupt officials do not enjoy their loots . They should enforce the law promptly.
3. Governments must continue to respect their obligations under treaties they have signed.
   #Conclusion
   I have come to the end of my write up. I have touched on some of the problems that is fast changing the world to a bad place to live in. I have also touched on the things that would reverse the bad situation of the world. If my suggestions are carried out we will have a better World.
