The Name Of My Country, State Of Origin and Home Town:

Now which country do you think i am writing from? actually i am writing from nigeria. Nigeria is a country that is situated in the west Africa in the African continent, it is said to be the highest and largest country in the African continent.

Nigeria was popularly know as the "Royal Niger Company Territories" Before it was later changed by the initial leaders of the country, it was said that the name "Nigeria" was given by "Flora Shaw" a British woman in the year 1986. thats a brief exlanation of how nigeria came to existence.

State Of Origin and Home Town:

I am from Rivers State that located in Nigeria, rivers state is said to be an ethnic group of the igbo's . Rivers state has 23 local governements of which ikwerre is my root and my home town, "Iwhuruọha" as it likely called by its people is seen as as an igbo ethnic group.

Our language and dressing pattern is similar to that of the Igbo's, this is because the ikwerrians are sub group of the Igbo's. In Ikwerre Anumeka or Oha Anumeka is translated as Ikwerre people I great you all. In the Igbo language iboala CHI is transcribed as Good morning, in Ikwerre it is translate as same.

The kind of food we Eat.

The ikwerrians are regarded as the sub group's of the Igbo's, in terms of food they share the same food but most at times, it is not spelled and pronounced the same. Below are the important food that the ikwerri people don't joke with.

Fufu and Uha soup:

It is a kind food that is prepared mainly for evening, that's dinner because it usually holds the stomach, me personally I love the food. Uha soup is really a delicious meal, it originated from the Igbo's because the ikwerrians are seen as the Igbo's that is why we came to have this kind of food in our list.

Bitter leaf soup:

This is another delicious soup and that the ikwerrians eat, although it is delicious but to be honest I don't like it because of its usual bitterness. In my language we call it mininri olugbu. For the ikwerrians and the Igbo's they really love the soup.

Our culture:

The Ikwerre people has many culture of which I listed some above, the way we dress during ceremony and the kind of food we eat are all cultures of our land, there is also a culture that we the ikwerrians usually holds, it is an annual ceremony called the new yam festival.

During this time there are many groups that entertains the people, these group are the wrestling group, dancing group that is called the Eregbu cultural dance and the Ikwerre masquerade group.

During the time of the masquerade, they usually play drums like the Ekwenkala, ngele mbamba and many others to make it more interesting and alluring. The game of wrestle is all about who will throw each other's back on the ground. Image example.

Another alluring play is the ikwerre masquerade, it is also an interesting aspects. The ikwerre masquerade is play that involve some kind initiations, sometimes it is usually the head of animals like Goat, EAyi, Bush goat. below is an image of the Ekpo and Ekpe masquerades.

Summary.

Today, the world is becoming modernize and all this cultures are fading out gradually, Christianity also has hidden the culture of many communities today. but based on what i have written, i know very well that you might have gotten some knowledge about the root of my community and country as well.
