INTRODUCTION
Supermarkets, malls, grocery shops, restaurants, local markets etc. are essential part of our everyday lives. Every now and then, we need the services of these businesses to satisfy our everyday wants and needs. The roles they play in our society is very crucial and the good part is that we depend on them just as much as they depend on us. It is a win-win relationship.
The business I reviewed is Shoprite. Most of us must have heard about this supermarket, Shoprite because they have branches not only in many states in my country (Nigeria) but across Africa as well. Nevertheless, one of their branches is very close to where I stay here in Ilorin, Kwara State in Nigeria. In fact, the distance of my apartment to Ilorin ShopRite is trekkable.
SHOPRITE
Shoprite was originally established in the year 1979 in the Republic of South Africa (RSA). The current CEO of the mega store is Pieter Engelbrecht (since 2017 till date).
The company opened its first branch in Nigeria in the year 2005, the Victoria Island, Lagos Shoprite branch and now has 25 retail stores across the country with plans of building more branches as many Nigerians still do not have easy access to a Shoprite store. It is interesting to know that one of the two Shoprite branches in Ibadan, Oyo State is the biggest ShopRite branch in western Africa. I have been to this particular branch in Ibadan, it massive and I encourage you to go enjoy the experience there someday.
Today, Shoprite is a brand popular in Nigeria and many African countries, they are known for selling quality products like foods, drinks, groceries, furniture, cosmetics etc. you name it, they have it. The best part is that these products are available at a very reasonable prize.
Shoprite has had amazing impact on Nigerians, it is the one stop shop for most of us because one can buy almost anything at their stores. Also, the Job opportunities they have provided for a lot of Nigerians in their numerous branches is a plus.
All Shoprite branches in the country are located at strategic locations enabling easy access and other businesses also strive to be located very close to their branches. This is a major advantage for we customers because once we go to ShopRite, we can also get other things done from other nearby stores. For example, the Shoprite branch very close to where I stay, is located in the same mall with the likes of ColdStone, VIVA Cinema, Edibles restaurant, Just Interiors, KFC, etc.

The images above, are from what3words and google maps respectively showing the exact location of Shoprite here in Ilorin, Kwara State. From the images, you can tell that Kwara State Shoprite branch is located along Fate Road in Ilorin, the State's Capital. Shoprite is one of the reason Fate is a very popular place in Ilorin. It is for this reason other businesses like Femtech Electromall, ColdStone and many restaurants now also have a branch at Fate, making it a very business-oriented area in Ilorin.

Shoprite sells a lot of stuffs as I have emphasized so far, I will be sharing with us some of the products they sell as well as their images and their prices in both Naira (my local currency) and in STEEM.

(1) Drinks: Drinks like Wines, Soda, energy drinks, Juice, yoghurts, water etc, in different quantity, containers and from variety of brands can be found at Shoprite. They can be bought in packs or few quantities.

(2) Bakery Products: Shoprite has their own Bakery section where they bake cakes, doughnuts, bread, cookies, meat pie, scotch egg etc. They make almost every bakery product and they are guaranteed to be delicious and at a very good price. Some people come to Shoprite mainly to buy their bakery products.

Yeah, I bought some stuff from Shoprite. Though, my main aim going to Shoprite that day was to review it for the sake of this contest but, I could not help but buy some stuff for myself it was too tempting.

Rate the market/shop based on your shopping experience or what you already know. Your rating will be based on factors like location, price of goods, quality of goods, etc.
Alright, based on
(1) Location: I have been to two other Shoprite branches in different States in Nigeria (Lagos and Ibadan, Oyo State) and just like the one I reviewed here in Ilorin, Kwara state, they are all located in a very accessible area and among other recreation centers like Cinemas, restaurants etc. So, in terms of location they always get it right and I would give them a 10/10.
(2) Price of products: I think anyone who has ever shopped at Shoprite would agree with me that their price is very reasonable, relative to the assured quality products they sell. I would rate them 9/10 in this department.
(3) Quality of goods: I think I have emphasised this enough so far, all the goods the sell is assured to be of the best quality. Qudos to their quality assurance team. All the products they sell both the ones they make like their bakery products and the ones they sell made by other companies are always of the best quality. No expired or substandard products can be found in their stock.
It is an automatic 10/10 from me in this department.
(4) Security and Safety: Top class security is assured as they have Security guards at their entrance, attendants at different departments of the store, CCTV cameras in strategic places. With all these, the customers are very safe as well as the store itself is safe from thieves and shop lifters. Also, they have strict COVID protocols that must be followed before entering the store and in the store. No face mask no entry plus every customer has their hands sanitized before entering the store. I would rate them a 9.5/10 in this department.
(5) Customer Service: The way they treat their customers is not bad at all. Their employees (attendants security, cashiers etc.) are usually well behaved and nice to customers. Although, I do still think they need more cashiers in most branches because the branches I have visited including this one I am reviewing, I had to queue for minutes before I could checkout. I think employing more cashiers would solve this problem. I would rate them a 7/10 in this department.
Overall, on average I would rate the Shoprite store at Ilorin, Kwara State a 9.1/10.
CONCLUSION
On a closing note, Shoprite is a real modern shopping store, well equipped and gives you that amazing shopping experience. I encourage everyone who has a Shoprite branch very close to them to visit if they have not.

I cannot agree less with your publication, Nigeria is really blessed to have such an establishment in outlet country, ShopRite is a popular supermarket and I know if their services, I have been there countless time and I can say they sell good and quality products. Their prices of goods are cost effective, cannot be compared to other retail shops.
