Steemalive contest: Stay healthy by drinking more alkaline water
Hello steemians, welcome to my blog. Actually, this is my first participation to this kind of a contest set up by @steemalive community. I'm honored to even be a part of it so thank you community for this lovely idea.
With that said, I'll be diving straight into the order of the day which is the prompt above; WATER
Definition, Types and Uses of water
Water is a substance made of two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule after a successful reaction. But to a layman, water is a colorless and odorless liquid.
According to Collins dictionary 2011, water is defined as a clear colorless tasteless liquid that falls as rain and forms body of water e.g rivers, seas or lakes.
There are different sources of water and I'll be mentioning a few which are:
•Rain water which is also regarded as a natural form of distilled water is gotten from the condensation of evaporated water vapor i.e steam goes up to the clouds(atmosphere), condenses and comes back as rain fall.
•Spring water is a source of water mostly gotten from rock sides and high cliffs.
•Well water is obtained from under the earth which means, one has to dig up the ground to get this source of water.
•River, Lake and Sea water are all from one source which is rain. This is gotten when rain water over flows to places where it is encompassed and gathered into a body.
The uses of water are enormous ranging from drinking to cooking to washing and all other chores/activities but today, our main focus is on Drinking and it's health benefits
Why we drink water.
To live well, it is always advised to drink clean portable water in a particular quantity which is measured in ".oz". The body needs water consumption precisely everytime there is dehydration otherwise known as thirst.
This dehydration could occur after a vigorous workout which must have resulted to loss of water composition in the body as sweat or after having a meal; especially a dry one which is hard for the digestive system to process and many other situations. To enable the body get back on track with it's unending process, drinking water is necessary.
What is acidic water and why we should avoid it.
An acid is a substance that is corrosive when dissolved in water. Any water that contains acid is acidic and an acid when tested, turns a blue litmus paper to red showing the nature/presence of it.
This water doesn't meet the criteria of "colorless and tasteless" which is the required state of a drinkable water. So means it's unsafe for consumption. While alkaline water is less corrosive like acidic water. This water tends to neutralize acidic water and turns it to salt+water.
The general source of water where I live is rain water since it is the surest source of clean water when safely collected while the source of drinking water is boiled rain water. It is boiled to remove any hardness found in the water, dirt and possible germs in the water body therefore making it safe for consumption. Sometimes, I add water guard (a liquid water disinfectant) after cooking the water. About 8 to 10 oz of water should be consumed daily.
That's my participation guys and a little pledge to this community, I submit 10% beneficiary to @steemalive community.
I can now say that alkaline water is the best. But base on this:
Please, if water is colorless and odourless, is it a criteria that the its alkaline water? I mean, is that the only way to identify alkaline water?
Actually, I was specifying about the acidic water. And about the alkaline water, I don't have any say about that. It all depends on who's drinking and why they want to. Thanks for reading 😊
