Student Bonding Strategies (Part 1) // Student's and Teacher's Bonding

in Teachers & Studentslast month (edited)

Happy great moments to my wonderful steemians from Teachers and Students community. It's so good to keep you company with my writing again. I am here to air my view on the contest organized by @memamun. Let me thank the organizer for this important topic that concerns a relationship between teachers and students. I love contest. It gives me an opportunity to display my writing prowess and also learn from others. In this post, I am going to give you a detail explanation of the relationship that exist between a teacher and a student. As a teacher I believe that a healthy relationship with the students can build a strong bonding between the two people that result in effective teaching-learning experience. Come with me let me start.

As a teacher, what do you think your understanding with the students should be?

Yes, understanding the students can help a teacher plan his lesson so as to benefit all shades of students in the class. A teacher should understand that students are unique in their own way. There are three sets of students in the class: the high flyers, the average and the slow learners. If a teacher understands ther learning abilities, it will be of immense benefits to both a teavher and the students.

A teacher who also finds out the origin of misbehavior of a child can enjoy and appreciate the fact that he is a psychologist. Students pay attention and learn more in a loving atmosphere. For instance, in my class I have discovered the reason for the instability of a particular student in my class and this knowledge helped me to understand how to help him overcome this challenge. Therefore, it is imperative for every teacher to understands the behavior and the learning technique of each student.

As a teacher do you differentiate between good and bad students or do you give equal importance to both?

Every teacher identifies good and bad students in his or her class. The good and bad in this context could refer to character or academic performance. Of course, as a teacher, I treat my students equally. I give them equal attention when it comes to learning. Every teacher gives extra attention to weak students who perform below average in order to improve their performance. In terms of character, if they misbehave, I give them the same punishment to serve as a deterrent to others. Although I relate with all of them equally like a father, I don't tolerate indiscipline. I punish bad behaviour and also reward good one.

How is your relationship with your students, has it ever happened that you failed to convince your students, if so?

My relationship with my students is very cordial. I make sure I don't distant myself from them so I can get their attention when I am in the class. It is noteworthy that if students like you in person maybe as a result of how you relate with them, they will in turn like your subject. When they like your subject, they will pay attention voluntarily.

Although as a teacher, I relate with them, I have boundaries. I have to be a model to my students. I can't lower myself and misbehave with them because I am a teacher. I discipline myself so they can respect me.

Well, as human, sometimes you find out that the students don't really understand your explanation. When this happens, I find an alternative way of convincing them. I can use illustration or a practical approach to help convince them to understand me.

If a student makes a mistake, how do you solve it as a teacher?

Of course, mistakes are human. Students are also human. It depends on the type of mistake. If any of my student makes a mistake that may distract my class, I may decide to warn him at first. Maybe I can call the student alone and talk to, letting him know the consequences of his action. I may not punish him at first before the class as this may affect his learning at that time. But if it is something that is serious, punishment could follow. There are types of punishment based on the nature of the offense. Kneeling down for sometimes, denying him break could serve as a punishment. <div class="text-justify

In conclusion, every relationship has a motive. Teachers and students positive relationship can last even after they have separated. Some students grow up to still remember the good teachers that related with them well.

Thank you so very much for reading through my post. Have a nice time.

What you have written makes me curious and wonder, How do you punish your students? What kind of punishment do you give, and what do you give to students who behave well? What do you think are the benefits and impacts after students receive this kneeling punishment?

Thank you. Of course, punishment comes in different forms. Depending on the type of misbehaviour. I can punish by asking the student to kneel down, pick dirt in the class, or stay back while others enjoy break. I reward with clapping for him/her, buying him a pen, making him a teacher 's assistant for the week, etc. Reward or punishment can createa an healthy competition in the class. Thanks
