Effect of Digital Classrooms on our Educational System

Explain your understanding of the word digital classrooms and why it should be adopted in our educational systems.

The newest teaching technique, known as a "Digital Classroom," is comparable to a regular classroom but makes better use of computers, tablets, smartphones, and the Internet to support student learning. It might function as an extension of the conventional classroom, fostering better research possibilities and student collaboration.

This method of teaching has become very popular among the people after the period of covid 19 pandemic because during those times students are unable to go to school and at the same time they use these digital classrooms to study their lessons. At times, students solely rely on the classroom - they collaborate online, view lessons at their convenience, and complete projects while taking tests online.

In the digital classroom, students can collaborate, study alone, and discuss their online learning thanks to technology. Students can easily access information and engage in discussions with their peers on subjects covered in class. They have the ability to communicate instantly and receive input on their tasks to assess their performance.

These are classrooms where technology is heavily used as a means of imparting education. These are classrooms where traditional classrooms expand into digital learning platforms. They incorporate electronic gadgets like computersm smart phones, smart boards, projectors, speakers and microphones. Here students are not dependent only on textbooks; Instead, they rely on educational apps and the Internet.

Smart boards

Smartboards are technology tools that combine the functions of a traditional whiteboard with digital capabilities. These boards are now becoming more popular and are commonly used in education to improve learning, collaboration and engagement. They typically have a large, flat display surface, ranging from 65 inches to 86 and 98 inches, that can be written on using digital pens called styluses.

They are similar to whiteboards, but the main distinguishing feature of smart boards is their interactive and digital nature. Smart boards can be linked to computers or other digital devices like tablets or smartphones, but their primary purpose is to enable educators to work autonomously. This connection allows the content displayed on the board to be controlled and manipulated by a device connected to the smartboard. This connection can be done via cables or wire less.

A projector is an optical device that projects an image onto a big surface or wall, usually a projection screen. It is an output device that can take images produced by a computer or Blu-ray player and reproduce them on a screen, wall, or other surface. Classroom projectors are built to support laptops, tablets and smartphones.

Computer

Computers and laptops are very helpful in today's digital classroom needs. Even if the computer is left for use in the classroom, a computer or laptop is very much needed to prepare the content needed to conduct the lesson. You can prepare presentations using software like Power Point, PDF and use them in the digital classroom using a computer, while using a computer or laptop you can prepare the necessary videos for the classroom and show them clearly to the students.

Discuss the benefits & challenges associated with digital classrooms as compared to physical classrooms.

Advantages:

• An important benefit of the online classroom is its remarkable versatility. There are numerous ways to set it up, enabling various possibilities for learning.

• Now a days, students are more fascinated with technology. Hence, with the inclusion of digital classrooms, students learn without passion and develop a curiosity to know more. This improves their academic performance.

• Through technology-based learning, students are exposed to new and unique teaching methods. For charts, video clips are played and charts are displayed on smart boards. It enhances the overall learning experience.

• Our environment is heavily influenced by the books and papers used in traditional classrooms. At the same time, digital classrooms reduce the weight of books carried by students.

• The content displayed on the smart board can be stored digitally, allowing users to capture the information presented during the session. This content can then be shared with participants or accessed later for reference.

Disadvantages:

• This can hardly be done when there is no electricity
• It can be a bit difficult to implement when there is an internet and network issue
• Since everything is digital there is a chance that students simply copy them without learning
• Staring at computers and digital screens for too long can lead to eye problems and physical injuries for students
