Pretty Little Liars Reboot

Hey fellow TV fans,

This week news broke about the Pretty Little Liars reboot titled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin being produced for release on HBO Max! For those who aren't aware, PLL was a teen drama mystery thriller series from 2010 - 2017 that lasted 7 seasons and was a must-watch for teen girls everywhere. It is based on the book series Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard and the story revolves around 4 teenage girls who start receiving threatening texts about their darkest secrets from a mysterious stalker called "A" who purports to be their best friend Allison, a girl who went missing a year before the show starts.

Now back to the reboot, I'm excited about the fact that they could potentially be making a higher quality version of what was a problematic teen soap opera. However, I'm also slightly upset by this news because it makes me feel old; I watched PLL for the first time in 2017 after the series finale and I can't believe it's already been 4 years. Regardless, I know I'll be watching the reboot anyway even if it's just for nostalgia.

For fellow PLL fans, before we get our hopes up, it is worth considering that there have already been 2 failed spin-offs from PLL that lasted a season each so the chances that this reboot will survive are low. (The spin-offs I'm referring to are Ravenswood and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists.)

Finally, just some general warnings for those who haven't seen the show already and may decide to start watching it: it's creepy and problematic in so many ways. Nevertheless, it's an entertaining show to hate-watch so enjoy at your own risk.
