If you like Rick & Morty, then SOLAR OPPOSITES is objectively your next show to watch

As there is rumours about this show having its Season 2 coming out on March 26, I think it's important for people to know about SOLAR OPPOSITES as it is absolutely fantastic. All the crazy, mindf*cked, absolutely rickdiculous comedy of Justin Roiland but now put into this other wonderful show that absolutely does not skip a beat.

The only way to give an elevator pitch is to recite the show opening credits "Planet Shlorp was a perfect utopia, until the asteroid hit. One hundred adults and their replicants were issued a Pupa and escaped into, uh, the space, searching for new homes on uninhabited worlds. We crashed on Earth, stranding us on an already overpopulated planet. That's right, I've been talking this whole time. I'm the one holding the Pupa. My name's Korvo. This is-this is my show. I just dropped the Pupa. Do you see me? (stammers) This is ridiculous. I hate Earth. It's a horrible home...." I think you get the gist

The show follows four aliens Korvo & Teri (the adults) alongside Yumyulack & Jessie (the kids) and their bizarre adventures in a humdrum American town. The pupa is a little alien that is slowly developing and when having the capacity to as it gets older, will destroy the world. I'm not gonna go through each episode as this is more a recommendation for you to watch rather than a review, but I will say some comments in regards to what your getting into.

Take Rick & Morty, now get high......on Kalaxium Crystals, while at Disneyland getting laid with Aliens. This is what this show is. Terry and Korvo while being the older aliens delve into societal issues of Earth and with each passing episode, tackle a different issue whether it be the need for people to like you, TV shows not being real or College, Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan do a fantastic job of capturing the improvisational and insanely wacky humour of R&M and take it way further but so effortlessly.

But if you ask me, the highlights are really Jessie and Yumyulack. Being the youth, they are forced to attend US high-school (which looks identical to Morty's high-school) and it is fantastic as they "co-exist" with the youth of society. Taking on a multitude of political and social issues throughout season 1, yumyulack as a very angsty Malien (yes I said it) shrinks humans that anger him and put into his menagerie (a wall in his house where other shrunken humans live). They go into more detail about this wall but there's no way I'm giving anything away about the wall as it makes for unbelievable story later on in the season.

I won't go into insane detail but the number one highlight moment of the show is where Terry and Korvo STEAL A BEAR. I MEAN IT IS UNBELIEVABLE. EPISODE 7, they steal a bear, it is insane. The best 22 mins of TV you will watch.

Each episode like R&M is 22 mins and there is absolutely no comedy TV show I can recommend more. It's on Hulu (Can easily use a VPN for Hulu if you are not from the US, whether it is a free trial or even spending the money for one month) and is definitely worth it. I would even go as far to say comparative to season 1 of R&M, its just as good if not better. If you have seen the show let me know what you think and enjoy your new TV show.
