I am glad that after many years I have found work. People say that there is enough work for those who really want it, but that is not true. The time when you are highly educated and find work easily is over. My mother already had that problem. She was also told: you are too highly educated, you can do too much for this kind of work. I was often not even given a reason why. I literally applied for every job, but what can you do if you don't even get the chance to prove yourself?
Now I have a job and it is absolutely not what I was trained for or what I wanted to be. I'm glad I have an income, no debts, no loans and never had any benefits, but my work physically demolishes me. Many colleagues don't last long and the newcomers often leave within a week.
The other day I had to do all the work that normally takes four of us to do alone.
Do you also get the salary of four people, my mother asked. That is not the case and refusing the work is also difficult. Because I don't have a contract for a fixed number of hours, which is strange because many people who come after me are offered that.
When I come home, I am so tired that I can hardly do anything anymore. I miss what I love doing most but I have no free time left. Once at home, I lie in bed paralysed until I have to get up again.
