Media, commercials do a lot to force peopple to buy.
I noticed that the people in poor and developing countries buy more expensive mobile phones, bigger cars and only clothes and shoes from a certain brand.
We no longer care about that, find it a waste of good money, do not see the need to take a loan to buy a coffee machine, tv, fridge, expensive clothes, etc.

If you want to learn the value of money you need to pay cash. If you pay cash you see how many you have to give for 1 bread.
If you work you know how many hours you need to work hard to pay that bread.
Without seeing the real money you never learn to see.
