Defenseless

She opened her little eyes, to wake up to the noise outside. It was the sound of chaos. She pressed her little hands to the side of the bed and moved towards the window. All she saw was fire and destruction. She did not scream or cry, as what a little girl would do. She grew ahead of her age too fast. As one who experience suffering would understand differently than the one who read it.

She grabbed everything that she can defend herself with, and her most precious toy. Then, left the house. She knew that it was pointless to seek help in an empty house. She ran through the streets towards safety. Luckily, she reached somewhere, where she was hearing all the noises from far away. She was looking down at her foot and thinking of a new shelter. She thought of getting her things back in order, as if she was not just a kid. She continued walking and stopped to see few foreigners. They did not say a word. But, she looked at them in fear. Despite everything she carried with her. She held tightly to her toy and knew that she was defenseless.
