Well, I would ignore such an invitation. With us the couple lives to receive gifts as well (money first) but a wedding isn't cheap. It's easier to not cekebrate and use that amount for whatever you need.
I don't like to visit parties from strangers since that is what those are who don't care about me except when they believe they can receive an amount.
