Nigeria CR weekly report by @focusnow for the week ending 3/7/2021.
Introduction
Good day team,am happy to make this presentation of my weekly activities in Nigeria as a CR. It has been a really busy week for me. I thank my fellow CR's @ngoenyi, @bright-obias and @whitestallion for the work they do in the cities where they live. Here is a summary of my work for the week that ended 3/7/2021.
1. Banner for our Weekend Presentations
We usually have our seminars every Saturday. This is the time we invite new people that heard us on radio to come and learn more. I have started the design of a banner which can be used to provide basic information about Steemit or even stir someone's interest. So I finished the design of the banner and went to the printery. I collected the banner on Saturday morning and @samuel 20 helped me install it on a wall inside the center. Below is the picture of the banner:
2. Our Radio Presentation with a new Station
Each week, we make a 10 minute presentation on Radio to help creat awareness about Steem. We normally use Real Fm, which is a popular radio house in the city. But since we hvae been known very well through our weekly appearance, we decided to try a new station so as to reach a different audience. So I sent @samuel20 to make enquiries with another radio house called Buzz FM. We booked a 10 minutes slot and as usual, @samuel20 and @ninapenda went to make the presentation. I stayed back to take calls and answer questions as soon as the office contacts was announced. I received more than 15 calls from interested listeners. It was a great outing. Sammy and Nina came back with some selfies from the radio house:
3. Weekend Presentation at the Center
Following Friday of Radio presentation, we normally have a weekend seminar at the center so that interested listerners that heard us can come and learn about Steemit in detail. Unfortunately, we had a terrible downpour exactly the time we were supposed to start. Many of those that wanted to attend called us and said they are not able to step out of their house due to the heavy rainfall (July is the month of heaviest rainfalls in SouthEast Nigeria). However, one zealous listner braved the rain and made it to the center. We did a presentation for him and he promised to be back on monday to signup and start. We took a picture with him after the presentation:
4. Promoting Steemit through Meetups - First of its kind in Aba, Nigeria. 3/7/2021
We all have seen the value of promoting Steem through various activities in the Country. Each city have been encouraged to organize and host weekly meetups aimed at motivating new members and discussing various strategies to move Steem to the next level. Aba as a city have not been doing that, but its nice we kicked it off last weekend. So together with the Aba city coordinator @samuel20, we planned and hosted the very first meetup in Aba, popularly called the Enyimba city.
Who were in Attendance?
We announced our our city group chat more than 7 days ago about the meetup and encouraged all our members to attend. Ofcourse, it was a particularly challenging weekend as we witnessed showers of rain from the morning period. But some of our members defied the weather and attended the meetup. Below is a list of those that attended.
@meymeyshoys
@ninapenda
@samuel20
@goodseed
@toson
@ojigwe
@ready247
@ruggedangel
@uzoma24
@val123
@smarto
@ijebest
@chigold1
@rightway247
@deben
@marajah
@mesonia
In order to encourage them to always support the meetup, I promised to send at least 1 steem to everyone that attended. Below is a screenshot of the 1 steem sent to the 19 persons in attendance.
Some of the Things Discussed
CityCurator account: We encourged all members to tr as much as they could to send at least 5 steem to the city curator account. Many are already doing so. Those that were not promised to start from the coming week.
Publishing regularly: Participants were encouraged to publish regularly and to take advantage of opportunities to earn votes such as through the cryptoacademy project, contests and other projects.
Power ups Participants were also encouraged to invest in Steem for the future. Taking advantage of the low price of steem to buy more now and power up was also stressed. Plus a host of other topics.
We took pictures during and after the meetup:
Conclusion
I still have a lot to do as a CR in Nigeria. I will continue to explore all available avenues to support authors from my country and Promote Steemit as a whole. Thanks to you the Steemit team.
