Tie dye means "tie and dye" as it consists of tying or knotting the garments to be dyed with rubber bands. It is a very old dyeing technique, but nowadays it is being known even more because it is in trend all over the world, it is usually done with cotton fabrics, but also in any natural fiber fabric, such as silk, jute, linen among others. With this technique you can make various models and designs, among the most famous we can mention the gradient. spiral, circle and heart.

To perform this technique we need: Iris, as it is called in Colombia, in Venezuela it is called Wiki Wiki, the name of this dye varies according to each country, hot water, preferably boiling, some containers where to store the powder and then add the water boiling and proceed to apply it to the garment to be dyed.

We can do this without any complications, since this dye is not toxic, the risk we can run is that by accident we can burn ourselves with hot water, but we must take all precautions and do it in a comfortable and spacious place.

It is important to clarify that we do not necessarily have to use garters to tie, everything will depend on the design we want, for example; The design that I am going to show you is extremely easy, and we will do it without tying, we simply wrinkle the entire shirt a lot until it is well wrinkled.

Perhaps many of us have bought that type of garment, at a very high price just because it is current fashion, but in reality we could save a lot of money because it is very easy to do. We are adding the dye in the most wrinkled parts, we ourselves can measure if we apply a lot or a little and we can make some parts darker than others, as I said in this case, I prepared in two jars and one was a little stronger than the other, The less dye and more water we use, the lighter we have, and the more dye and less water, the darker we have.

Most people like it with a lot of dye, and that the color looks striking, but this is depending on the taste of each client, it can be done with little dye and placed only in specific areas so that the color is more noticeable. of the shirt that the dye. As it is in the middle of the process, we could use it with this print, but I decided to make it a little darker.

In my case I wanted to dye it all and that's how it would look, we just rinse without scrubbing, put it to dry in the shade and that's it. when it dries we can use it.

1. Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands

2. You must wear old clothes that can stain, in case you get dye on it or you can use an apron.

3. Place a plastic bag on your work table so that you do not stain the table or work on a surface that can stain.

4. To make the circular, spiral, or the aforementioned designs it is necessary to have elastic bands or garters to tie.
