Part III: The Forms with Weapons (Bo) in the ASLKV [email protected]
One of the most common weapons in the training of our students is the use of the Bo since it is the most accessible for the kids because they can even use a broomstick to practice and learn the movements.
Within our academy, during the school vacation season, we carry out a two-week vacation plan to instruct the child in the use of Bo, so that they become familiar with the use of weapons and to visualize the skills of each.
The Bo is an elongated weapon or staff, they are generally made of wood or bamboo.
This type of weapon comes from ancient times in Japan and is used by samurai warriors, who lost the tip of the spear in battles and had to fight with what was left of them, which was a rudimentary wooden staff. Then, with time, this weapon evolved and perfected, since the martial art emerged and with it, the Chinese and Japanese techniques appeared, where its extremes were sharpened, to penetrate the armor of the opponents.
On a technical level, I can tell you that to use this weapon, strong and rapid movements of the limbs are required. Likewise, the practitioner must have agility in their movements, and movements are used for blocking, checking, sweeping, direct and indirect blows, and lunges.
With all the experience I have within martial art, I can consider this weapon as one of the difficult ones to use, because you use the whole body to move the BO and do the series of movements, in addition to the frequent use of joint movements.
In the academy, we began to teach its use at an early age, which has been the initiation in the use of weapons so that later they specialize in the others, which I have previously mentioned.
Within our karate system, we have students who have excelled in the use of Bo and especially a student Camila Cobo, who began practicing at the age of five. Currently, he is 15 years old and can tell him that his mastery with this weapon is excellent since he has put constancy and discipline to the BO, excelling in the national and international ranking, for the various participations in tournaments and is part of the support of training for initial BO classes.

I'm glad they cover all kinds of martial arts training.
Thanks, our first focus is working with children, to turn them into healthy adults.
What a good deed, in the vacation plan, and in general, make use of Bo, as an initiation in martial arts. It is interesting in the middle of the practice of young people and adults to know the history of these weapons, used by samurai warriors. This technique to start, then helps in agility and strength the exercise. The more you tell us about combat weapons, the more interesting it will be to practice. The passage of the young woman in the Academy is impressive and more to know that she has been training, passionate and disciplined with you since she was little. Excellent presentation in his video, dexterity, movement, agility, mastery of the weapon. Thanks for sharing with us.
