TV Tip: Upload (DE/EN)

Hier mal ein Tip zu einer SF TV Serie, die ich neulich bei Amazon Prime Video entdeckt habe.
Here a little review of a SF TV series, which I recently discovered on Amazon Prime Video.

Viel habe ich davon noch nicht gesehen, aber der Anfang sieht recht interessant aus. Ohne zu spoilern, hier eine kurze Beschreibung:

Das Jahr 2037
Alles ist im Wesentlichen so wie jetzt, nur noch ein bischen mehr Elektronik, selbstfahrende Autos, coolere Handys usw.
Und eine Technologie, die wahrscheinlich Elon Musk zu verdanken ist (das ist jetzt mal nur meine persönliche Einschätzung):
Man kann seine Persönlichkeit in eine Computersimulation hochladen. Was aber einen kleinen Haken hat: danach ist der Körper tot. Anbieten tut sich das also hauptsächlich für Leute, die sowieso bald sterben.
Wie auch dem Protagonisten in der Serie, ein echter Yuppie, erfolgreich, jung, gutaussehend - und wegen des Versagens des Autopiloten in seinem Auto (was sonst eigentlich nie vorkommt) im Begriff den Arsch zuzukneifen.
Doch dank seiner reichen, aber etwas übergriffigen Freundin wird er grade noch rechtzeitig in eine Luxus Simulation hochgeladen, eine Art Hotel an einem wunderschönen See, mit Wald und Bergen rundum usw. (Wobei ich das nicht so richtig verstehe - in einer Simulation ist so ein Luxushotel nicht teuerer zu erstellen als ein Slum). Dort wohnen schon einige Millionen andere User, jedoch sieht jeder nur immer einige davon. Und das sind zT. ziehmlich schräge Typen.
Was jedoch schlimmer ist als die Eingewöhnung in das Luxusleben nach dem Tod: offenbar hat unser Held vor seinem Ableben jemand auf den Schlips getreten. Und dieser jemand versteht keinen Spaß - erst sorgt er dafür, das der Unfall passiert, und nach dem Upload versucht er das Gedächtnis unseres Helden zu löschen.

Die Serie beginnt spannend und mit allerhand schwarzem Humor, die Ausführung und die Schauspieler überzeugen. Und die Story hat einiges Potenzial. Werde ich auf jeden Fall weiter verfolgen.

I haven't seen much of it yet, but the beginning looks quite interesting. Without spoilers, here is a brief description:

The year 2037. Everything is essentially as it is now, just a little more electronics, self-driving cars, cooler cell phones, etc.
And a technology that is probably owed to Elon Musk (that's just my assessment now):
You can upload your personality to a computer simulation. But that has a little catch: after that, the body is dead. So the offer is mainly attractive for people who will soon die anyway.
Like the protagonist in the series, a real yuppie, successful, young, good-looking - and about to bite the dust because of the failure of the autopilot in his car (which normally never happens otherwise).
But thanks to his rich but somewhat overbearing girlfriend, he is uploaded to a luxury simulation just in time, a kind of hotel on a beautiful lake, with forests and mountains all around, etc. (Although I do not really understand that - in a simulation such a luxury hotel is not more expensive to build than a slum). A few million other users already live there, but everyone only ever sees a few of them. And some of them are, lets say, pretty weird guys.
But what is worse than getting accustomed to the luxury life after death: apparently our hero stepped on someones toes before he died. And this someone does not take this lightly - first he makes sure that the accident happens, and after the upload he tries to wipe our hero's memory.

The series begins exciting and with all sorts of black humor, the execution and the actors are convincing. And the story has some good potential. I will definitely pursue further.
