Nerd By Northwest D&D Profile - "Nolan Bottlefist"

Name: Nolan Bottlefist

History: Growing up as an orphan in the seedier sections of Waterdeep, Nolan Bottlefist started as a trained beggar and pickpocket under the tutelage of the infamous Beggarmaster Tog. As adolescence came and his innocent child-like appearance began to fade (and his smart mouth began to get bigger), the Beggarmaster traded him to one of the local thieving gangs in exchange for a roast chicken and a bottle of cheap wine. It was with them he learned the finer points of picking locks, second-story work, and acrobatics.

His unusual surname "Bottlefist" came about on his eighteenth birthday, after defeating six sailors in a bar brawl armed with nothing but a large whiskey bottle. That brawl caught the attention of a swashbuckler from the Pirate Isles, who took Nolan under his wing and trained him in the finer points of swordplay, dueling, and wooing barmaids. Not long after that, Nolan was forced to leave Waterdeep and take up the adventuring life after an incident involving too many pints of ale, the drunken theft of a local magistrate's wooden leg, and a fling with said magistrate's lovely wife.

Due to his charisma, charm, and devious mind, Nolan has fallen in as the adventuring party's face and informal leader. Nolan fights dirty, seldom plays by the rules, and is obsessed with acquiring treasure... all things Nolan considers to be his "good qualities".

Recently, Nolan's career as a swashbuckling rogue took an unusual turn, as a near-death experience led him to also become a fledgling warlock. But instead of dark warlock powers bestowed on him from some sinister entity like so many classic anti-heroes, the otherworldly patron that actually came to his aid was a celestial ki-rin that looks and acts suspiciously like Twilight Sparkle of 'My Little Pony'. Now instead of struggling against some dark patron encouraging chaos and destruction, Nolan struggles against his patron's do-gooder mission to spread peace, friendship, and cupcakes across the land.

Even more recently he was initiated into the 'Bronie' coven of fellow Celestial Pony warlocks. Despite grudgingly coming to like his fellow 'Bronies', in public he desperately tries to keep that on the down-low for fear of losing his bad-boy rogue reputation.
