Delicious hot vapa pitha


Assalamu Alaikum to all.I hope everyone is well.Alhamdulillah I am fine too. I like today's contest because I will share my country's winter recipes in a competition organized by the Steemit Travel community. Thanks to my respected admin @ripon0630 for organizing our native winter recipe contest.

Winter means you can only get satisfaction by tasting the smoky steamed pitha in the cold wind of winter wrapped in fog. vapa pitha is one of the pithas in the winter season. Winter is around after the smoke of eating pita. And if this smell is hot steamed pitha, then there is no word.

🧾So let's see the detailed description of Vapa Pitha.


The ingredients for making steamed pitha are given below. 👇:

Basic ingredients:

  • Rice powder-1 kg.

  • Grated Coconut - 1

  • Crushed dates jaggery-250 grams.

  • Salt - as per quantity.

  • Water- as per quantity.

Other materials:

  • Round bowl for making pita.

  • Special pot for steaming pita.

  • Soil cover.

  • Sieve.

  • Preparation method

Step- 1
  • First, in a bowl, mix rice powder, salt, and little water thoroughly so that the pieces do not get mixed, and care should be taken that the powders are neat.

Step- 2
  • The rice powder should be rubbed by hand in a sieve. It will come out like refined semolina grains.

Step- 3
  • Next, mix half the grated coconut and rice powder.

  • Now fill half the pot with water and wait until the water boils and steams.

Step- 5
  • Now grease a small pita bowl with a drop of oil, add rice powder, sprinkle grated jaggery and some coconut on top, and again cover the jaggery with some rice powder. After that, gently press it with your hands to make it even.

Step- 6
  • This bowl should be covered with a thin wet cloth and placed on top of the pot of hot water so that the steam hits the PITHA. Now slowly remove the bowl and be careful not to break the pita.

Step- 7

Fold the edges of the cloth and cover it with a clay lid so that the steam gets well on the pita. After 3-5 minutes, remove the lid. Now press it with your finger to see if the pita is soft. It means the pitha is ready to serve if it is smooth

Vapa pitha is a traditional pitha of Bangladesh that is mainly eaten and prepared during the winter season. In winter, we get fresh rice powder and date powder. So this time can be called the season of Vapa Pitha. Apart from Paushparban, the Navanna festival, this pitha is also used in various social festivals.

Date and new paddy rice jaggery are available in our country this winter. So winter is the most suitable season for Vapa Pitha. And in this cold winter, hot steamed pitha in the morning or evening brings warmth to the body.

What makes this recipe a perfect fit for the winter season — is it the ingredients, the cooking method, or the way it warms you up on a cold day?

Date jaggery is required to make steamed pita. And this material is beneficial for us. This pitha must be made with special equipment, and techniques must be applied to make this pitha. To make a pita, you need a pot with a closed lid but with a hole in the middle. This pitha is made by steaming technique.
