Trip To The Hills of Panggoi And Gardens "Jambee Kleng"

Panggoi Hill which is part of the city of Lhokseumawe. Panggoi Hill is famous for the beauty of its tall hill and the scenery around the hill is very beautiful. These hills are right in the location of the Japanese Cave, Blang Panyang, Lhokseumawe. Not only natural beauty, Panggoi Hill is also famous for its Jambe Kleng tree plantation (Jamblang/(Syzygium cumini).

Along this hill road there are lots of jambe kleng plants that are fruiting and flowering. This Jambe Kleng tree is nicknamed the Acehnese people's grapes. There are trees that are high and there are low (hybrid).

This guava tree is also very beneficial for the local community and financial matters. Because when the Jambe Kleng fruit starts to grow and it's time to pick it, the farmers will sell it to the collectors (toke). Later, they will resell this jambe kleng in retail form and add peanut sauce.

Jambe kleng tree that has many large branches and dense fruit. This jambe kleng fruit or Aceh grape is round, large, blackish in color and purplish this is what makes the Acehnese call it aceh wine. Even so, they still have differences in terms of taste and seeds.

The seeds of the Jambe Kleng fruit are large, while the seeds of the grapes are many and small. The sign that the jambe kleng fruit is ripe is when the fruit has started to turn black and dark purple. The ripe and large jambe kleng fruit is sweeter but also has a slightly sour taste, because it has become the hallmark of the jambe kleng taste.

This jambe kleng is very much liked by the people of Aceh, especially when the jambe kleng season has arrived. The people of Aceh will flock to look for jambe kleng to eat even though there is a sour taste, but this is what makes Jambe kleng fruit unique from other fruits. Uniquely if we have eaten too much jambe kleng then our tongue becomes dark purple like the color of jambe kleng.

Jambe kleng is also good for herbal medicine for diarrhea, stomach acid, diabetes, and asthma. The jambe kleng plant that grows around Panggoi Hill is not too tall and is very easy to pick. We don't need to climb too long because even from the bottom we can pick it to enjoy.

Jambe kleng plants that grow in the hills of Panggoi also have large and dense fruit. Some of the fruit trees are still green and some are ripe or blackish too. If we walk to the Panggoi hill area, we will see many jambe kleng trees that are bearing heavy fruit.

When the fruit is ripe, the farmer will sell it to increase their income. Panggoi hill is very suitable to be used as a place to plant other than a high place, it is also cool and sunny here, good for photosynthetic plants. Traveling to Panggoi hill is not only able to enjoy the beauty of the Malacca strait sea, but you can also enjoy this jambe kleng fruit garden.
