Hello to all friends of Steemit Travel
In this post, which I am writing, I want to take you on this virtual walk a final arrival the beautiful little church of Santa Barbara overlooking Lake Garda.
For those who don't know, Lake Garda is practically the largest lake in Italy, a place that is about 30 km from my home, and I have always frequented since I was a child.
The walk practically starts from the town of Riva del Garda , we are in the northern part of the lake in the region of Trentino Alto Adige , the area from my point of view the best on the lake.
Below, to give you an idea of the beauty of this town, I leave you a video I shot in January this year, in the Christmas mood, but I must say that Riva del Garda is beautiful in all seasons.
👉
Not far from the centre, my walk began, I can tell you right away that it is not an easy walk, because you have to tackle a height difference of about 500 m in about an hour's walk, so you need a minimum of training to avoid risking a heart attack.
I must say, however, that there are very good signs, and it is virtually impossible to get lost, and by the way, as you can see from the photos and the road is well maintained, at the beginning there is a large crucifix, and you have to continue the climb.
The great thing about this walk is that as you go higher and higher, you are faced with a beautiful view of the lake, somehow the effort is repaid.
Of course this was a sighting area, in fact during the walk you will find the remains of a fort, most likely used in the First World War, in fact here a few kilometres away was the front line of the conflict.
For the more daring, and for those who are naturally equipped and do not suffer from vertigo like yours truly, there is the possibility of shortening the route via a via ferrata, but I naturally continued on my way.
Immediately afterwards, one encounters the remains of the Venetian bastion, which was built here during the Venetian rule in this area.
Finally after about an hour, I arrived at the church of Santa Barbara , think that this church was built by the miners who worked here , when the power plant was built here in Riva del Garda .
In fact Saint Barbara is the patron saint of miners , this church was built then in 1925 as protection for the miners who were working on this important power plant , which at that time was becoming important .
The advice I can give you, after having done this route, is to avoid going up here in winter because I have noticed that most of the route is totally in the shade so it could probably get icy in winter and become very dangerous.
Thank you for reading the post up to this point, I hope you have found it interesting, it only remains for me to give you an appointment for the next post, but first I wish you a good day.
