Hello fellow travelers of Steemit Travel,How are you?I like to read your posts about your adventures every day, and today I would like to share my travel experience in a place that was artificially created but which from my point of view is worth visiting.
The place I want to talk to you today in this article, the lake of San Domenico which is located right in the heart of Abruzzo near Villalago a small village perched on the mountain.
A place that was artificially created thanks to the construction of an important dam.
This lake is located at an altitude of about 1000 m above sea level.
The dam that gave life to this lake was built in 1929 and has the function of powering the large hydroelectric plant that is located right nearby.
As you can see from the photo, the waters of the lake are of an emerald color precisely because it is water that comes from springs that are located at high altitudes.
Then if you come to these places in the autumn it is even more beautiful due to the fact that the woods around here are colored with various shades.
From my point of view, the lake of San Domenico is the ideal place to get in full contact with nature, In fact, I noticed that here near the lake there are numerous paths that are a fundamental stop for those who love trekking.
There are trails of various kinds, from the challenging ones that require a great deal of preparation, to those much simpler and suitable for everyone, but in all the paths at the end you can enjoy a beautiful view.
After a nice walk there is always the desire to rest on a beautiful beach, this is also possible at the lake of San Domenico, In fact there is only a small beach on the side of Prato Cardoso but you have to be very careful because it is not possible to swim in this lake and you cannot even fish.
This is most likely due to the fact that this basin is artificial so the water contained within this lake is used for the production of the current.
However, the most beautiful experience you can have here is just walking in nature, and going in search of small waterfalls that form here in the mountains.
