Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 9 Week 6 - My Trip My Adventure
Traveling is said to be part of education and I know that is true because you got to learn so many things as you travel. I want to share my experience while to my local government headquarters.
After some months of marriage, my hubby wanted to travel to our local government headquarters to see some old artifact that was in record. It took us 2 hours to drive down there with traffic due to bad road if not for that it takes 1 hour 45minutesto be there, on arriving we dropped our bags at my house then stepped out to visit the headquarters.
The first place we visited was amalgamation house this is where my country name Nigeria originated from. It is a historical place that many people in the country visit to see how it was. In this house the Governor of the Northern Protectorate and the colony and protectorate of Southern Nigeria as at then, Sir Lord Fredrick Lugard signs an agreement of merging the two entities into one.
Thereafter we visited the ocean, this is where slaves were being taken out from Nigeria is it called the bridge of no return in those ancient times, once a person stepped foot on this bridge he or she will never return. Therefore this was where blacks were transferred from Nigeria to the Vast plantation in Europe and America for slavery and they never return.
This bridge was always the final point of discharge for slaves into the ship, It has 3 big compartments which was used as holding areas for slaves as they wait their movements. They were always in chains and labelled, and many of them died during the waiting days due to the inconvenient arrangement of humans as cargo items.
According to history, hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children were sold as slaves to European and American slave masters. The slave traders at some point even traded 40 healthy men for just a single umbrella, this act was so heartless, I'm grateful we were finally rescued, the stoping of this trade on January 1, 1914 before the second world was was a good one.
See us today, we are free from all those things, now visiting this place reminds me so many things and I see the reason they still maintain that place for site viewing and sharing of history. I learnt so many things at least if I can't remember anything, I'm motivated as I went there to see those things by myself.
Coming back home, mum has prepared Afia efere for us so we ate this delicious soup with pounded yam,
It was a nice adventure and we all enjoyed it.
Thank you for reading through my post, I will like to invite @ubongudofot @mile16 @goodybest to share their own traveling experience.

Hola amiga

very exciting trip, thank you for wanting to tell the history of the amalgamation house, a house that has a lot of ancient history in the country
Yes thank you
Impressive, detailed and informative. I knew you learnt a lot of lessons from the place you visited. It's quite interesting to know such a place exist in my country, Nigeria. The amalgamation House. From your post, there are lots of artifact there based on natural history one of which has a very big ocean used for the transportation of slaves to other countries. I'll personally love to visit this place to learn more and probably, absorb all the good things life can offer.
Thank you
My pleasure
Hello my dear mam @eliany
Your investment of time and money for the trip will be entirely with you. You have to do this work only for your own needs. You must go on a journey to refresh yourself from the hustle and bustle of conventional life and change. But the view of your trip is really great, river cruises in trawlers are great fun. I wish you all the best.
Best regard @jannatmou

Yes it's was really an oppression but then we rejoice as we now have freedom. Thank you for your warm concerns 😘 I really appreciate 😘😘
