I am glad to be part of Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 9 Week 3 - Experience Exploring Nature because not only does it provide me the chance to share my experience while traveling and exploring a new area, but it also shares the history and natural beauty of this area, which is a rare combination.

I would like to take this opportunity to write about Barnawa Lakshagriha, which is one of the centers of tourist attractions about 60 kilometers from my residence.

Name of the place

Burnawa

Location- https://goo.gl/maps/bx4eLACqFNdX6U5A9

Access to travel or transportation to the location

You can find all sorts of transport services, including trains, buses, and cabs, but we traveled by car.

Tickets/fees

If I calculate the total expenses for petrol it would be roughly 35 Steem for the total trip, but if someone wants to go by bus, it will cost about 10 Steem per head.

Facilities/conditions

This is a rural area, so don't expect star facilities in this particular area, but if you stay in Delhi, about 60 km from here, or other nearby towns, you can get star hotels and all modern facilities.

Activities you do when in nature

I prefer to sit and watch the beauty of mother nature, whether it's a hilltop of a mountain or a river bank, but this area was different, so I spent most of my time walking and finding out about the incidents that happened in the past, and I spent almost four hours doing so.

What moments of joy and sorrow you feel

I always feel happy when in the lap of mother nature but on this particular trip I found myself astounded at every step. I was astonished because I saw a new mystery unfolding at every step, so I enjoyed this trip doubly because I felt mesmerized.

Now I give you the description of the place I visited, "Burnawa."

Burnawa has a rich historic value, but we wanted to visit this place for its natural beauty besides the historic stories, which we have been hearing right from our childhood as it's a chaptor in our history books in schools and colleges.

So we started one fine morning from our house on the border of Delhi, the capital of India, to Burnawa, where the Lakshagrah is situated at a distance of approximately 60 km. In normal course, it should have taken us about 1 hour, but the traffic condition of the area was so bad that it took us all of 1 hour and 40 minutes to reach there.

However, once we were in Burnawa and at the location, all our suffering vanished, and we enjoyed the natural beauty plus the historic background associated with this area. However, to understand this story, you will have to go back to the Mahabharta era, especially when the war between the Kouravas and Pandavas was going on for the kingly seat of the kingdom of Hastinapur.

Barnawa Lakshagriha district of Baghpat also boasts of the golden history of the Mahabharata period. There is a Mahabharata-period Lakshagriha at the confluence of the Hindon and Krishna rivers in Burnawa village, located in Baraut sub-division. There are immense possibilities for tourism here. However, renovation work is going on here right now.

According to historians, Duryodhana planned to kill the Pandavas. In Varanavarta (now Barnawa), a building was specially created by a skilled craftsman with inflammable materials like lac, wax, etc. As soon as the building caught fire, the Pandavas came out safely through the tunnel.

This tunnel opens into the side of the Hidden River. Its remains are still found today. In the south of the village, this mound, about 100 feet high and spread over 30 acres of land, is present as the remains of Lakshagriha. There are two tunnels located under this mound.

Protected Area of the Archaeological Department

This is an Archological Survey of India protected area on the Lakshagriha mound of Burnawa. Where the remains of ancient times are still present. The tourism department is trying to develop the area so it can attract more tourists. The tourist departments believe that after the renovation, this area will be a special attraction for tourists.

Lakshagriha is under development by the tourism and culture department of the state by linking it with the Mahabharata circuit schemes; therefore, beautification of tunnels, meeting rooms, sheds for tourists, footpaths, stairs, bathrooms, toilets, etc. is under construction.

Lakshagriha is developing as a tourist destination.

There are five grand Yajnashalas in the Gurukul complex of Lakshagriha. Yagnas are organized twice a year, in which devotees come from all over the country and also from abroad to participate.

The description of Lakshagriha, located in Burnawa, comes from the Mahabharata. The tunnel through which the Pandavas came out safely after the Lakshagriha caught fire is still present in Burnawa. People come from far and wide to see this tunnel. King Duryodhana, as part of his planned conspiracy against the Pandavas, wanted to kill them in this building.

The Lakshagriha was made of lac (resin), and the Pandavas were accommodated in this building. Duryodhana had conspired that when the Pandavas would stay here, this house made of lac would be set on fire, so all his rivals would burn to death. However, the Pandavas learned about this plot and escaped safely through a secret tunnel. This tunnel comes out on the banks of the Hindon River, about 40 kilometers from that place.

Located in the district of Baghpat, Burnawa was earlier known as 'Varnavat' during ancient times. According to historians, the tunnel was built in Lakshagriha on the banks of the Hindon River, a rainwater river that originates in the Himalayan mountain range. There is evidence of this tunnel, which still stands intact.

The archaeological survey team is doing an excavation at Burnawa on the banks of the Hindon River and has found remarkable items in Burnawa. They found old bricks buried in the mound near the trench. These bricks are estimated to be about two and a half thousand years old. They have also found the remains of old pottery and old coins.

On our return journey we stopped at a roadside restaurant and had our meals which was reasonably priced for the variety they served. I suggest to you guys that if you ever happen to be in this part of the world, this place is worth giving a few hours of your precious time to.

So this was what I say to kill two birds with one stone, we had a nice trip in the nature and learned some historical facts as well.

I invite @harferri @senehasa @inspiracion and @o1eh
