On Sunday, I attended the Lessinia gnocchi festival, a dish that is prepared in these parts in a very simple way.
This festival is held in the municipality of Bosco Chiesanuova, about 30 km from Verona. Every year a competition is held in the neighbouring municipality and then the winner comes here to celebrate by offering gnocchi to everyone.
This year they won, a group from this country, and this is their fifth victory since this race has been organised.

This typical dish is on the menu of almost all mountain huts, and although it is a simple dish and made with simple ingredients, it is sold at a high price, at around 6 euro per plate.
These dumplings are prepared with flour and water and then cooked in pots of super-boiling water.

Usually topped with cheese and butter, this was a very poor dish that once served to feed the people who lived in these places.

Ingredients that were here in the mountains were used, potatoes were grown and butter was made from the milk of cows

It is a dish that people like a lot, people come from all over Italy to eat it, in fact you can see that there was a lot of people present.
People are also willing to wait hours to be served.

Then everything being free, people come in droves, I too took my plate and didn't leave a single one.

A variation to this dish is to add truffle shavings, but the dish becomes too expensive, I chose the traditional one with butter and lots of cheese that is produced here in the area.
