From the late nineties to 2004/2005, there was a huge trend of patriotic war films in Bollywood, which started with the 1997 Border film directed by JPDutta. But no war-based film has been made like that in the last 10 years. With the exception of 2019's "Uri" or 2017's "Gazi Attack" or Datta Saheb's 2016 film "Paltan", I don't think of any more recent war dramas. I will try to shed some light on how "Sher Shah" was able to fill the gap.

Our generation has seen only one war, the terrible Kargil war of 1999! The neighboring country of Pakistan has seen the death of over 500 soldiers in a covert attack. And the corpse of Captain Sourav Kalia who was tortured to death. The film "Sher Shah" about the life of Captain Vikram Batra, who won the Parambir Chakra posthumously, is a humble tribute to the immortal memory of the martyrs of the Kargil War! No hesitation.

The main attraction of the film is its tight screenplay and thrilling war action choreography and of course great cinematography. The only place of weakness is the romantic sub-plot. The character development is also very good. And the action sequences are really very thrilling and natural. Besides, the great realistic location and cinematography were also admirable. The music sounded good. The songs are melodic, but in the last scene, B Praak's voice has the power to make the emotional audience cry.

Let's talk about acting this time. I was mistaken when I heard that Sid Malhotra is in the lead role. He has portrayed Bikram Batra's patriotism, passion and courage on the screen in his own way. However, he is a bit numb in the romantic scenes. Kiara Advani rarely had a screen space in the role of Bikram's fiance Dimple. But Kiara looked impossibly beautiful. A small tip in the middle of her forehead and Indian makeup seemed to bring out the real beauty of Kiara. The performances of Pandit, Nikitin Dhir, Shataf Figure, Raj Arjun etc. are quite good.

If the theater had released the film under normal circumstances, it might have brought the tide of Siddhartha's career to a dead end. So we are here too. Otherwise, it would not have been possible to write this film review while leaning on the armchair and sipping hot tea!
