Hello steemians friends, wherever you are, may we be in the protection of God Almighty, before I explain about my writing, let me say hello to my friends who love plants, I have not been active in this community for a long time with various background problems that make me unable to contribute to this community.
On this very happy occasion, I will write about plants and the environment, the basic idea of this article was born when I was monitoring a community service village, monitoring or observation aimed to see the condition of the village to formulate a work program, in the observation process I found a coconut plantation palm oil, so took the initiative to write this post.
Farming or gardening is one way to increase economic development for the community, various types of income are obtained by farmers to develop their economy, but what is very unfortunate is that many farmers buy their crops at low prices, even though farmers continue to farm to meet the market needs of social beings.
The majority of my service villages are areca nut and oil palm farmers, along the way to this village, you can see a very large oil palm plantation, from interviews with local residents that each oil palm farmer has an area of approximately one hectare, while the monthly income is ± 1 million rupiah, in a month can be harvested 2 times, of course very satisfying right ..?
Apart from that, it is also necessary to pay attention to environmental conditions, in the following I will formulate the environmental impacts of oil palm plantations.
Can damage biological ecosystems
Forests are a renewable biological ecosystem which is also a place for animals to breed, but oil palm plantations can damage the ecosystem, the majority of which can live in oil palm plantations are destructive animals such as wild boars, rats and other pests.Can damage clean water
Oil palm can indirectly damage clean water, every one oil palm tree requires 12 liters of water per day, just imagine if there are 100 coconuts, how much water is needed, it's really disturbing isn't it.Can damage soil elements
The more it needs water, the oil palm can also cause slow drought, and also unhealthy or infertile soil conditions.Can trigger natural disasters
From the water problem alone, we can conclude that oil palm can trigger natural disasters such as drought from the need for water.
There are many other impacts that I cannot mention due to oil palm plantations, but there must be mitigation for these problems, apart from economic sustainability we also need to pay attention to environmental conditions for the lives of social beings.
Thus my writing about the impact of oil palm plantations on the environment, the impact is large-scale land clearing, not to mention the smoke produced from burning forests to clear plantation land, of course we continue to socialize this for the health of our natural environment.
