Some writers misunderstood a quote or reference. Maybe you want it to appear well-read and broad-minded so that it displays as many reference citations as possible. However, the result does not even look smart and enlightening, it actually looks like it has no originality. If it's not for that purpose, then it's best not to quote but to compose your own language. Thus, the writing will appear powerful. But you don't need to be burdened with this either, after all, at the professor's level, there are many whose writings are "less powerful" even though they display many references.
