Tokyo Visit: The Vehicles of Tokyo | 20% to JapanSteemit

It was July of 2019 when James, my husband and I went to visit it. We did a DIY trip, we stayed in the Shinjuku area in an Airbnb room, a small one but just enough for the two of us and our luggage. We expected the weather to be sunny but throughout our stay, it rains now and then, but on our second day, it didn't so we had the chance to see Tokyo without umbrellas.

One of the things that I could testify about is the cleanliness. The streets didn't even show any trace of litter. And for some reason, I didn't see any vehicle spitting out black smoke! This was Tokyo! The capital city of Japan!

During our entire stay, it was a short one though and we missed other places because we had limited time, we had taken the bus and the subway but other than that, Tokyo has other means of transportation.

Today's article though is all about what we had seen as a mode of transportation in Tokyo.

Spot the train!

Right after exiting Meiji Jingu, we spotted these vehicles. What's interesting here is the view of the train just right above the vehicles. I am glad I was able to capture the train and the cars at the same time.

Speaking of the train, a couple of times, we had missed the schedules of the train in Tokyo, I realized that there were certain routes which changes at specific hours and so it is recommended that if we have to go out, we must set our map application to when we are already on the road instead of making a plan beforehand as these routes might change real-time. It was a mistake that we had to learn well. Japan has a very complicated subway system but with the proper mobile map application, it would be easier, gladly, we were able to get to our destinations via the subway, most of it as sometimes we take the bus as well.

Bike riders waiting for the traffic lights to turn green.

Aside from trains and cars, the Japanese love to use their bikes. There are bikes everywhere in Tokyo. Some wear safety gear while others do not just like that in the photo. I believe that these people are living nearby their workplaces.

And there's one thing that caught my attention while we were in the city, mothers bring their babies and toddlers on their bikes! Their bikes are customized that they can carry their children. I have seen them either in front or at the back with their bike seats and transparent plastic covers, don't worry as there were holes on the side for airflow.

If you see the image below, you'd find what I am referring to, although not very clear but that's how most bikes for mothers look like. I was left in awe because we don't have that in the Philippines.

How do you find the houses at the back?

Don't text and drive!

Aside from bikes, we also saw motorcycles of different sorts. There were bike ones like that in this photo below:

The driver parked and scrolled on his mobile phone while waiting for the traffic. This was still nearby Meiji Jingu as we were walking towards the nearest subway station.

This image below shows a delivery guy perhaps, a scooter with some items at the back, I guess he is on his way to deliver these goods.

Look at this neighborhood!

The cleanliness of the neighborhood streets is just applauding! One thing that I missed taking photographs though while in Tokyo were the vending machines and the trashbins, yes, their trashbins are very interesting too! I wish I had taken pictures of them.

Anyway, that's a good excuse to go back there. I really wish to go back to Japan during Sakura season.

That's it for today! I hope you have a great day ahead!
