All I did was check on spilled. Spilled is wasted but wasted time isn't spilled time or spilt. Spilt, how easily a word is forgotten from one day to the next and even called wrong. If anything feels wrong then it is this.
Spilt milk... Don't cry over spilt milk is an idiom (another word Google didn't recognize a few days ago).
Don't cry over spilt milk it's wasted time but if you cry it can't be helped. Can be tears are a waste and hurt the skin don't cry over spilt liquid the waste of money one can live without it. Water makes a better drink anyway there's no point in doing such since it's the past, cannot be changed and we have to move forward. What if it's not about milk but if a dozen eggs end up on the street or if the pot with cooked beans drops on the floor? Are those beans spilled, spilt or wasted? Spilled for sure, spilt should be accepted in the UK and wasted? Only if they are thrown away. There's no need to to such a thing. Just wash them with water and serve them.
