Democracy- A Poetry By Collins Rollins
All she's asking for is to be independent.
Like a bird caged, worried when she'll sow high in the air.
A nation freed from an external force,
Is bound by yet an interner oppression.
Rubbish! Rubbish!! Rubbish!!!
At 18, expected to bear the cross alone
Like a grown up lion exiled to hunt for a pride of its own.
She rather was tossed under the big wings in the name of protection.
"No superman, I'd rather be Clark Kent."
"Simple existence until I am forced to switch characters."
A democracy of poachers!
An independence of lies!
The short poem above is simply revealing the ways at which nation claimed they want to be independent from external forces, yet they are suffering from internal oppression. The oppression created within themselves because of one thing or the other, in which one major amongst them is GREED!
The stanza one reveals how the girl hoped for a free world, which metaphorically signifies how nations of communities seek freedom.
Stanza two specifies that at age 18, legal age to be a youth, one is expected to walk the his or her path and have to make choices which he or she will take responsibility for. It signifies that a nation had come to the age of being free and ready to make choices, house the people and so on. Rather, they are being tossed under the supervision in the name of protection due to ignorance.
Stanza three of the poem rapped it up with the thoughts of being yourself instead of what the public wants. While everyone has a determined, strong, as well as evil sides within them, they are keeping a low profile until the beast in them is forced to reveal themselves. To many nations, the claim to practise democracy. However, they are all lies many are not ready to wake up from.
