Valentine Sky
The crimson beauty of the night sky stirred up mixed feelings of Valentine’s Day many years ago when Tina had been gifted with a beautiful bouquet of red roses.
The flowers were delivered to the office amidst the teasing of her fellow workers.
“Tina has a boyfriend, Tina has a boyfriend!”
She was pleased with the idea of a Valentine’s gift but never liked the idea of cut flowers. Being of a superstitious nature, Tina saw cut flowers as dead flowers and she didn’t like them in her house.
When her special Valentine came to visit her that evening he looked around for the roses.
What could she say?
Making a decision to be upfront with her new love interest, she told him of her feeling towards cut flowers and instead of bringing them home, she had thrown them in the garbage.
Her confession set the tone and instead of the romantic evening she had been looking forward too, her could-be-suitor left early with an excuse the night sky looked ominous and he thought a storm was brewing.
He never phoned her again after that Valentine’s Day and her swift rejection of the roses.
Tina had learned a valuable lesson, to temper her feelings, be gentle with another’s heart and not throw away the show of love into the garbage.
