This is going to be a post about homelessness more to the fact people's altitudes towards homelessness and the homeless community! Everyday people are so blind to homeless people if you see someone in a shop doorway under a dirty blanket sat on a flattened cardboard box you automatically assume druggie lowlife and so on and you walk past them like they don't exist and i say this because i have been that person sat in the doorway with no where to go and i have also been a person that walks on aswell ignorant to what is going on in front of us!

Its ironic if you see a stray dog you phone RSPCA the dog gets t taken off the streets. But when it comes to other human beings we don't have the same emotional response you walk on ignoring the issue in front of us! Which is crazy when you think about it!
See we are in the 21st century in the uk and i believe homelessness should of been solved a long time ago Every humans basic need is a home.
And why do we walk on because we convince ourselves that the person must be a lowlife druggie alcoholic but what we do not understand most of these issues arise because of the fact the individual is homeless in the first place! Also its impossible to recover from addiction whilst being homeless.
I feel if individuals had a home they would have the security needed to address problems but while your on the streets your whole life is taken up by survival!

Also in the uk to get housing you need ID but you can't get I.D. WITHOUT AN ADDRESS CATCH 22! So you end up stuck and lost in q broken system with they little chance of finding a way out if you can't get id you won't get housed!
Also when you speak to homeless people they feel like they dont exist!

I myself has been homeless and I'm very lucky to say i now work with homeless teenagers aged 13-19 years old and i was lucky to find housing which now a days is almost impossible.
See homelessness isn't just people sat in shop doorways there is lots of forms of homeless for example sofa surfers stsy where they can at friends ect but you tend to be a sofa sufer for so long before people get sick of you and you end up on the streets!
I just believe that most of our social issues in society can be solved by housing individuals and giving them a home to start living there lives as you can't heal while on the streets!
I also think people's attitudes towards homelessness needs to change these people are not just junkies and lowlives they are sons daughters mums and dad's to someone they are lost human beings who need support and to feel like they are worth something again if you feel invisible and that no one cares your never going to be able to become a valued member of society these people have feelings.

See in London uk sandwiches and cakes thrown out at the end of the day from cafes shop ect homeless people use to take it out the bins for food as its still good food and because it looked bad for businesses they started pouring blech on the food to stop the homeless eating i tbink this is disgusting as all that left over food ends up at the tip covered in bleech when it could had feed someone in need! This situation has started to get a little better from some shops as its donated to voluntary groups to give out to the homeless i think every business should have a duty to donate usable food to charities but 9 times out of ten it ends up in a landfill!
I just think attitudes need to change so we can address the issues of homelessness to get people the help and support they need instead of making there lives harder and making them feel like they are worthless!

I now work with homeless teenagers and try to get them housed i just want to change people's opinions and attitudes
Towards homelessness it comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes they are also the hidden homeless who hide the fact they are homeless. These people are hunan beings not an animal they all have stories to tell and as i said they are someones son daughter ect i just think homelessness should be a thing of the past!
I have also won an award for my community and youth work see i was homeless once on drugs lowlife ect ect look at me now all because i found a home. Please next time you walk past someone in that doorway think of this post thanks for taking the time to read this please follow me I'm also crypto mad! Kelvyp x
