Fisherman
In general, those who depend on fish for their livelihood are recognized as fishermen. Again those who depend on the river or water are also called fishermen. Fishing was once considered the main occupation of fishermen. Because in the past most of the fish produced was naturally found in large quantities in canals, rivers and canals. With the increase in demand for fish, the scope of work of fishermen has also increased several times. They manage every step of fish farming starting from the breeding season of the fish. And so now the use of the word fisherman has decreased and the use of ‘fish farmer’ or ‘fish farmer’ is increasing.
There was a time when these fishermen also used to weave nets used for fishing. Fishermen's much-needed boats for fishing were built inside the jail. And so the fishermen of Bangladesh could be seen using different types of boats. The construction of this boat depended on the size of the nearby river, water flow, wind flow, purpose of using the boat, availability of trees, etc.
When the availability of fish in the river decreased, the fishermen engaged themselves in transporting goods through the river. The tradition of making dry fish by drying and processing the extra fish obtained in the monsoon season is very old. However, chemicals are now used to make dry goods attractive and protect them from decay. Among them, the use of DDT powder causes huge damage to the human body.
Since the fishermen depend on the river, the fishing grounds can be seen along the banks of the river. The houses in Jalepara were usually of temporary structure due to the frequent demolition of the banks of the river. And it goes without saying that there was no presence in the yard. Usually they would dry the nets in the dunes of the river.
