Width can also be referred to as breadth, they mean the same thing so it can be used interchangeably. Most mathematicians would be familiar with this terms.
I strongly believe the prompt for today is a rhetorical question, one that requires no answer or a personal answer as the case may be. This is because the width we are talking about is not known to all but the person actually describing it or having a contact with it.
The width of the object I am talking about is certainly different from the one you are talking about, so it is kind of a personal view.
