Milan's new goalkeeper

New AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has spoken about the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma. He appreciates what his colleague has achieved while at the San Siro.

Donnarumma's contract with Milan expires in June 2021. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was reluctant to extend his tenure at the Rossoneri and chose to leave for Paris Saint Germain.

Donnarumma's departure to PSG also ended his six-year career with Milan. The Italian national team goalkeeper made 251 appearances in the Il Diavolo Rosso uniform, and presented an Italian Super Cup title.

Maignan was appointed as Donnarumma's successor thanks to his brilliant performances during his time at Lille. The 25-year-old goalkeeper managed to keep 21 clean sheets last season, the most in Europe's top five leagues, and helped his team win the 2020/2021 French League.

Maignan is confident that he can give his best at the San Siro. He wants to surpass the achievements of Donnarumma, the goalkeeper he considers to have contributed greatly to the Rossoneri.
