The United States successfully won the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. In the final round, As managed to beat their eternal rival, Mexico with a narrow score of 1-0.
The US vs Mexico match became the final of the 16th edition of the Gold Cup, as well as the seventh meeting for the two in the top match. In the previous six finals, Mexico was more dominant by beating the US 5 times.
The only US victory over El Tri in the final occurred in the 2007 edition. However, in the match at Allegiant Stadium, Monday morning WIB, Gregg Berhalter's squad managed to ward off this bad history.

Throughout the match, both teams traded attacks. Mexico held 64 percent of the ball, and managed to release 22 shots. But only five were on target, all of which were thwarted by US goalkeeper Matt Turner.
The meeting of the US rearguard was also matched by a fast counterattack. They made 14 shots, and five of them were on goal and one was scored.
After playing without a goal for 90 minutes plus injury time, the match went into extra time. Towards the end of the game, when the match was expected to be settled on penalties, the US dramatically stole a goal.

In the 117th minute, Kellyn Acosta's free kick was headed by Miles Robinson. The ball went into the Mexican goal without being driven away by goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera. In the remaining time, Mexico failed to catch up. The US is officially the champion.
This title is the seventh for the United States since the CONCACAF Gold Cup began in 1991. The number is only lost to Mexico, which has won eight titles.
