The bird of paradise is a very unique and beautiful type of bird, originating from Papua, Indonesia and the surrounding islands. Known for its brightly colored feathers and long, elegant tail, the bird of paradise is a symbol of Papua's natural beauty, which is rich in biodiversity.

Birds of paradise have various species, each with its own characteristics. Some of them are Lesser Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea minor), Greater Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea apoda), Red Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea rubra), and Wilson's Bird of Paradise (Cicinnurus respublica). Each species has a different feather color pattern, but generally has striking colors such as red, yellow, blue and green.

The way they move and nest is also unique. Birds of paradise often dance with beautiful movements when looking for a mate or in an attempt to attract females. Their nests are usually made on tall tree branches and decorated with materials such as leaves and moss.

Unfortunately, the natural habitat of birds of paradise is increasingly threatened due to illegal hunting and forest loss in Papua. Although protected by law, illegal hunting still poses a serious threat to their survival.

Culturally, the bird of paradise also has an important meaning for the Papuan people as a symbol of natural strength and beauty. They are often the inspiration for traditional Papuan arts and crafts.
